    Development Manager/Country Head - Spain

    Salary: €50-90k+ depending on experience and skills. Bonus/success payments.
    Location: Spain/Remote

    Join us and lead on Connected Energy's BESS development projects in Spain.

    In this role you will be responsible for originating and developing a pipeline of sites through to ready-to-build, including managing legal, permitting and grid arrangements and any co-development/joint venture partnerships.

    Connected Energy is leading the way in the development of battery energy storage solutions. We're one of only a handful of energy storage companies worldwide that have developed the technology to use second-life electric vehicle batteries as an energy store. This solves two major environmental challenges: the reuse of EV batteries and the effective storage of renewable energy. Our product is changing the way businesses manage their energy and we have systems in operation on commercial sites across the UK and Europe.

    With a number of recent strategic investors , including Volvo Energy and Caterpillar Ventures, the company is scaling-up our operations fast and developing a new product range on an industrial scale. Our new M-STOR sites are a key strategic development in our company's roadmap and you'll be part of this exciting stage of the company's growth.

    We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Development Manager/Country Head to lead Connected Energy's BESS development projects in Spain. In this role, you will be responsible for originating and developing a pipeline of sites through to ready-to-build, including managing legal, permitting, and grid arrangements and any co-development/joint venture partnerships. You will have the opportunity to build your own team as the pipeline grows.

    What you'll do

    Work in partnership with Connected Energy's UK head office to:

    • Originate utility-scale greenfield and co-development BESS sites
    • Manage the development of those sites to ready-to-build
    • Oversee negotiation and signing of key contracts (leases, wayleaves, grid connection agreements, co-development, permit consulting)
    • Develop and manage a network of contractors to support the delivery of the projects (this will include lawyers for lease and wayleave documents, engineers for grid connection arrangements, and an appropriate group of consultants for permitting)
    • Create a standardised project development process for Spain
    • Develop and manage an in-country development team
    • Evaluate market drivers and opportunities (including co-location, auto-consumption and behind-the-meter connections and subsidies/incentives) to establish a countrywide development strategy
    • Report on strategy and progress to the CEO, COO and Board

    This role could be for you if you have:

    • A successful track record in energy project development (which might be solar, wind, or petrol/diesel as well as BESS)
    • Strong understanding of Spain's interconnection process for BESS (ideally including co-location with existing generators, auto-consumption, and BTM)
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Native or fluent Spanish and professional-standard English
