    Summary

    Work is guided by diverse procedures, processes and/or technical methods of varying complexity. Incumbents have some freedom to select best methods and procedures to follow to complete assignments. Tasks are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions/actions may have an impact beyond the jobs immediate work unit or team. Works under general Supervision. Situations not covered by standard processes, procedures and methods are referred to expert resource May provide functional guidance to others performing similar work. May demonstrate work methods to new employees. Deals directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in exchanges of factual information and provides some explanation in a problem solving capacity; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, require exchanging factual information and providing some explanation.

    Detailed Description

    Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

    • Facilitates the movement of product within Celestica in support of production and shipment schedules.
    • Expedites incoming parts through receiving, quality inspection and transfer to manufacturing.
    • Aids in overcoming obstacles in logistics processes including quality assurance, misplaced product, and incorrect data records.
    • Maintains responsibility for inbound consigned inventory, shortage reporting, and working with suppliers/ customers.
    • Tracks shipments to ensure committed schedules are met.
    • Acts as contact to ensure all shipment deadlines are met and provide notice of potential late deliveries.
    • Runs shortage reports to identify issues relative to build schedule.
    • Ensures timely delivery of critical parts including arranging for special delivery and working with traffic department to clear inbound shipments.
    • Schedules and tracks production or prototype builds across multiple shifts.

    Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

    • Knowledge of warehouse, distribution, inventory control and shipping/receiving practices.
    • Basic knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
    • Basic math, data entry and 10-key skills.
    • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records of material movement.
    • Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to accurately perform tasks in relevant office systems and business applications.
    • Ability to enter detailed data from source documents into various databases with speed and a high degree of accuracy.
    • Ability to evaluate and prioritize a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion, while working with frequent and ongoing interruptions.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.

    Physical Demands

    • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
    • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
    • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

    Typical Experience

    • Four to five years of relevant experience.

    Typical Education

    • Additional courses after High School, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Educational requirements may vary by geography.
