    Area/Department: Design and Engineering Services (D&ES)

    The Design and Engineering Services department in Celestica Valencia is specialized in the development of new products and electronic systems for both its customers (mostly international) and the production line within the factory.

    The D&ES team is composed by more than 20 specialist engineers: electronics, software, mechanics... that, in the end, build a multiskilled team able to carry on (almost) any kind of development projects.

    The areas in which these projects are developed are mainly related with healthcare and in-vitro diagnosis, industrial, aerospace and test development.

    Name of the position:

    Engineering Trainee – Mechanical and Product Design

    Job Description

    The student will collaborate in different mechanical design activities related with the on-going projects, always under the guidance and supervision of the responsible engineers. This will allow the student to acquire and consolidate an extensive set of abilities in product and test system design at various levels.

    Tasks to be performed will be related to understanding basic product requirements, 2D and 3D design, materials selection, process design and selection, GD&T, risk analysis, Design for Manufacturing/Assembly analysis, etc...

    The student will also participate in the building of the needed prototypes for design verification and the development of the tools and documental routines making use of the adequate laboratory instruments and equipment.

    She/He will participate as one of the components of the development team, contributing with her/his point of view and proposing solutions and alternatives aimed to overcome the different challenge that a development project present.

    Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

    Needed skills

    • Knowledge on 2D and 3D design tools such as Solidworks.
    • Ability to develop/conceptualize/draft mechanical concepts based on requirements.
    • Knowledge prototyping and 3D printing.
    • Knowledge on casting and plastic working processes.
    • Ability to structure Bill of Materials
    • Fluent in English, both written and oral.

    • Familiar design calculations and simulations: thermal, stress, fatigue...
