    ROLE SUMMARY:

    At the forefront of British education internationally, King's College School La Moraleja is seeking to appoint an inspiring, collaborative and forward-thinking professional to the position of 'Teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Cover', on a fixed term basis, for pupils on our Paseo de Alcobendas site aged between 9 and 16.

    Situated in Madrid's most exclusive and sought-after neighbourhood, King's La Moraleja is a private British school that combines academic rigour with a strong sense of community to deliver a transformative learning experience to its pupils from Pre-Nursery up to Year 11.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To deliver the school's English as an additional language intervention scheme from Year 5 to 11.
  • To contribute to the planning, resources and curriculum for the school ́s English as an additional language programme.
  • To work collaboratively with the Head of Admissions to identify students who are eligible for the EAL intervention scheme, preparing a timetable that ensures all students receive the support that they need throughout the academic year.
  • To be an active member of the English department, supporting with EAL resources to enable differentiation and supporting the Secondary Head of English in the day to day running of the department.
  • To work collaboratively with the EAL teacher on Salvia site and ensure the smooth transition of EAL pupils from Year 4 to Year 5.
  • To cover planned and unexpected teacher absences in the school, as directed by the cover manager.

  • Understanding of the use of assessment to inform planning and improve student performance
  • Ability to engage, enthuse and motivate students
  • Ability to organise, plan and prioritise effectively; managing responsibilities as a classroom teacher
  • Data analysis skills, and the ability to link attainment data to strengths and weaknesses in curriculum, pedagogy and teaching
