  • This is a grant funded position. The project will end April 2024._

Role Purpose:


The Infrastructure Coordinator will lead infrastructure projects at 21 primary schools including: construction of seven classrooms, construction of two sanitation blocks, school safety updates, and other projects as directed.

Hope for Haiti's Education Program is working towards creating Child Friendly Spaces which infrastructure is a key component of. The IC is responsible for developing RFPs, project management, site visits to the field, and monitoring and evaluation.

This will include working across program and operation departments, and The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Education Program Director (EPD).


Major Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate the rebuild of primary schools by working with external construction firms;
  • Prepare report updates on the various HFH construction projects for donors
  • Draft impact stories for project beneficiaries
  • Coordinate the repairs and construction of two latrines and sanitation blocks at schools;
  • Evaluate the need of additional classroom space, sanitation facilities, and other infrastructure needs across the HFH school network and document them for the organization's record and/or future reference;
  • Assess the HFH partner schools' safety on a casebycase basis and coordinate miscellaneous infrastructure works such as construction of school fences, ramps, gates, door repairs and locks to upgrade safety; and
  • Other projects as directed by the manager.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • 35 years of experience working on infrastructure project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context;
  • Good communicator with strong organizational, time management and analytical skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, cultural and diplomatic skills;
  • Superior writing and editing skills;
  • Technical expertise in education, infrastructure, health and protection would be advantageous;
  • Experience with reconstruction and rehabilitation;
  • Experience in team management and leadership;
  • Experience with communitybased projects/activities;
  • Experience working with vulnerable groups;
- able to demonstrate conflict-sensitivity, compassion, discretion;

  • Skills in monitoring and evaluation would be beneficial;
  • Experience with multisectoral and integrated programming;
  • Experience with early recovery /reconstruction projects is an asset;
  • Experience in working with the local authorities and the governmental agencies such as COUD, MTPTC and MENFP;
  • Strong computer skills: must be competent in the use of Windows MS office, Endless OS, Google Suite, Asana, Bamboo and M&E tools like Salesforce and CommCare; and
  • Fluency in French or Haitian Creole and English, spoken and written, is required;

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, National position based in Les Cayes, Haiti. This position is NOT accompanied and the organization provides no relocation, logistics or housing packages. Compensation is based off of Hope for Haiti's Compensation Scale.
