Role Purpose:


Under the supervision of the Public Health Program Manager (PHPM), the WASH Technician (WT) will work closely with the Public Health and WASH teams.

The WT is primarily responsible for facilitating and implementing sanitation and hygiene promotion activities in the school and community levels, as well as, water filtration system distribution.

She/he will provide workshops on safe handling of drinking water, hand hygiene, solid waste management and other relevant topics.

She/he will work closely with the Hope for Haiti team, medical partners, partner schools, community health workers and community leadership to ensure Hope for Haiti's WASH Program is functioning efficiently and effectively.


Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Lead all activities, reporting, and project monitoring for the Rotary-Cavaillon grant as well as other WASH grants.
  • Assist the PHPM with planning, budgeting and implementing WASH activities
  • Work diligently with the beneficiaries of the WASH program deliverables are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical support and supervision to CHWs to empower them to fulfill their tasks at school and in the community.
  • Work with the PHPM to determine the supplies and materials needed for the WASH program
  • Maintain uptodate WASH inventory list.
  • Work with Operations and Community Health teams to procure the WASH supplies/materials needed for distribution.
  • Coordinate with partners and stakeholders to optimize WASH support and develop partnerships and synergies among the WASH programs in the department.
  • Provide technical assistance, for the schools and communities on the construction/installment of WASH related facilities e.g. toilet, hand washing facility and dish rack, etc.
  • Involve the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) by informing them of WASH activities and data
  • Evaluate WASH programs through Monitoring and Evaluation and reporting KPIs

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field.
  • Minimum 2 years professional work experience in WASH programmes
  • Advanced skills in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Tools and Internet
  • Knowledge on Monitoring and Evaluation for a WASH program
  • Good writing and reporting skills
  • Ability to write and speak in French and Haitian Creole, English preferred
  • Passion and enthusiasm for communitybased work
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and joyful demeanor
  • Ability to work and establish good relationships with coworkers, partners, and nonpartners

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, National position based in Les Cayes, Haiti. This position is NOT accompanied and the organization provides no relocation, logistics or housing packages. Compensation is based off of Hope for Haiti's Compensation Scale.
