The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education.

    What We Are Looking for:

ISGlobal is seeking a postdoctoral researcher focused in Implementation Science who is interested in initially taking over and managing activities of the project ADAM among other Implementation Research projects.

The overall ADAM project goal is to evaluate the pilot implementation of the programmatic delivery strategy and monitoring plan for different malaria prevention strategies, including a mass drug administration (MDA) and a reactive focal drug administration (rFDA) of antimalarials with foci investigation.

This position will support the analysis of the evaluation of the programmatic evaluation of both interventions as well as the impact evaluation in terms of malaria transmission after the intervention.

Moreover, the researcher will contribute, in collaboration with the main national stakeholders, in the development of the Mozambican National Policy Recommendation and the National Implementation guidelines for MDA and rFDA for malaria in Mozambique and integrate it into the NMCP's strategic and operational plans.

In addition, this position will be integrated into the Implementation research group where is expected to collaborate in the preparation of new grant opportunities, writing of scientific protocols and publications, stakeholder engagement, data analysis and mentoring of younger researchers across different settings.


TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS:


  • PhD degree in public health, epidemiology or similar disciplines
  • Demonstrated expertise in the following:
  • Epidemiology in infectious diseases and other poverty related conditions in low to middle income countries.
  • Running large implementation research studies at community level engaging multiple participants and stakeholders in low to middle income countries
  • Leading multidisciplinary research teams including epidemiologists, economist, social scientists, statisticians, implementation scientists, field workers, clinicians, etc
  • Designing and analyzing mixedmethods approaches in research to evaluate the operational performance of different interventions
  • Analyzing routine data (experience in DHIS2 databases is an asset) to evaluate the clinical impact of the piloted interventions
  • Developing delivery strategies guidelines and recommendations at national or international level
  • Using satelliteimagery maps to support implementation of interventions in the field
  • Mentoring young researchers and other proven experience in training and education
  • Experience working in diverse lowresource settings with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, including close links with national health authorities
  • Proven success in building and maintaining partnerships with other projects, local organizations, host country governments, and international agencies.
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and high level of data management and analysis with Stata.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research Design and Execution:

  • Collaborate with the principal investigator and research team to design, plan, and execute implementation science research projects, including: the writing of the grant proposal, the research protocol, the manual of procedures, etc ; the preparation of all documentation needed for the communication and submission to ethical authorities;
  • Conduct systematic reviews and be aware of the stateoftheart knowledge and incorporate relevant findings into their own research.
  • Ensure timely and quality performance of activities related to the project milestones, with the support of the main stakeholders and the rest of the technical team.
  • Supervise day to day activities of the project staff engaged in research, and provide training and support as required by the project activities
  • Identify obstacles and risks related to implementation in a timely manner and design strategies to overcome them

Data collection and analysis:

  • Lead the data management and analysis of the data related with the operational performance of the interventions delivered in programmatic mode following a mixedmethods approach.
