    What We Are Looking for:
  • ISGlobal is seeking a lab technician who is interested in performing laboratory activities of the project "Impact of coinfections on the balance of antibody and T helper responses to antigen targets of naturally-acquired and vaccine immunity to major human pathogens" funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III ((PI20/00866).
  • The aim of this project is to understand and characterize the phenomenon of immune deviation when disease conditions of different immune profiles coexist in the same individual. Specifically, the project will study the immune deviation in coinfections with model pathogens of public health concern and that typically induce polarized Type 1 (malaria) and Type 2/regulatory (helminths) responses.
  • The technician will work within the Malaria Immunology group led by Professor Carlota Dobaño

Key Responsibilities:


  • The technician will perform Immunological analyses.

Specific Duties:


  • In collaboration with the lab coordinator, the technician will participate in the following tasks:
  • Setup of the Luminex assays, including the recovery of serum antibodies from dried blood spots and preparation of the multiplex antigenic panel.
  • Quantification of antigenspecific IgG, IgG14, IgA and IgE in serum and plasma samples by the Luminex technology performed at ISGlobal
  • Quantification of cytokines, chemokines and growth factors by Luminex in plasma samples, to determine the TH1 / TH2 / TH17 / Treg profiles
  • Support to other basic lab activities when required.
  • Compliance with the biohazard and biosafety measures

Auxiliar task:


This job description reflects the present requirements of the post but may evolve at any time in the future as duties and responsibilities change and/or develop providing there is appropriate consultation with the post-holder.


Training and experience /Qualifications:


  • Trained biomedical professional (MSc) with at least 3 years experience in laboratory work.
  • Proficiency in sterile sample management, pipetting, use of the required laboratory equipment and implementing SOPs.

Specific Requirements:


  • Experience processing human blood samples for the plasma and PBMC separation and cryopreservation.

  • Learning capacity.

Conditions:


  • Duration: 5 months
  • Starting date: Mid April 2023
  • Contract: Full time
  • Salary Range: Depending on experience and qualification

Selection Process:


The selection process is designed in two phases:1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation.

To assess the person's skills and CV.

  • Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
