The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education.

    What We Are Looking for:

ISGlobal is looking for a predoctoral student to participate in a project on the microbiome and circadian disruption within the "Microbioma Intestinal y la Disrupción Circadiana, un Estudio Epidemiológico Molecular Sobre Enfermedades Cardiometabólicas y Salud Mental" project funded through the Instituto de Salud Carlos III.

The student will work on studies related to the microbiome among night shift work and will evaluate pathways related to circadian disruption and cardiometabolic and mental health outcomes.

This work will be conducted within the Environment and Health over the Lifecourse Program at ISGlobal.


Field research:


  • Biological sciences
  • Other : epidemiology

Key Responsibilities:


  • Data collection
  • Data cleaning
  • Data analyses
  • Manuscript writing
  • Help with the preparation of the deliverables and reports

Specific Duties:


  • Involvement in protocol development for the followup of the microbiome study.
  • Participation in data collection.
  • Design of epidemiologic studies.
  • Analysis of data.
  • Reporting of results in peerreviewed journals.
  • Develop a thesis on the work within the project.

Auxiliar task:

Training and experience /Qualifications:


  • BS and/or MS in a discipline related with biology or epidemiology
  • MS degree completed prior to start date

Specific Requirements:


  • Teamwork, yet capable of working autonomously
  • Problem resolution.
  • Learning capacity.
  • High level of enthusiasm and motivation; passion for science
  • Programming skills in R or Stata

Language level:


  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent in either Castellano, Catalan or both
