The Barcelona Institute for Global Health, ISGlobal, is the fruit of an innovative alliance between academic, government, and philanthropic institutions to contribute to the efforts undertaken by the international community to address the challenges in global health, through research, translation to policy and education.

ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level.

Research is organized in three main areas, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Child and Maternal Health, and Urban Health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases.

ISGlobal is the first global public health centre to have received the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

    What We Are Looking for:

ISGlobal is looking for a motivated Data Manager to work on the ATHLETE (Advancing Tools for Human Early Lifecourse Exposome Research and Translation) project.

The Data Manager will be streamlining this process in collaboration with the project 24 partners to build on the data warehouse.


The Project:


ATHLETE project has received EU funding and aims to implement the exposome in birth cohorts in order to study the effects of a wide range of community-level and individual-level environmental risk factors on mental, cardiometabolic, and respiratory health outcomes and associated biological pathways during the first 2 decades of life.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Build up and optimization of the database for the project according to FAIR data principles and data processing protocol
  • Implement and update the project Data Management Plan
  • Transfer and manage data from participating, international cohorts, who are carrying out the studies

SPECIFIC DUTIES:


  • Maintain close contacts with the 18 project cohorts, 24 research teams, and working groups
  • Carry out data cleaning, quality control and programming of validation checks
  • Document and archive all data for easy use in future research
  • Ensure for the database to be compatible with DataSHIELD environment.

AUXILIAR TASK:


This job description reflects the present requirements of the post but may evolve at any time in the future as duties and responsibilities change and/or develop providing there is appropriate consultation with the post-holder.


TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Educated to diploma level in biostatistics, bioinformatics or related topics
  • Experience in processing and managing of complex data
  • Experience with relevant software SQL DBMS such as MariaDB/MySQL.
  • Experience in epidemiological, medical or laboratory sciences an advantage

SKILLS:


  • Responsible, flexible and with problem solving skills.
  • Team player, yet capable of working autonomously, rational thinker.
  • Eager to learn and proactive.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
The post holder will adhere to ISGlobal principles contained in People management policy, including Equity, diversity and health safety. The post holder will respect, and accountable to ensure ISGlobal policies and procedures.


LANGUAGE LEVEL:


  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

CONDITIONS:


  • Duration: until the end of the project 30th June 202
  • Starting date: 1 January 2024
  • Contract: full time
  • Salary Range: Técnico I A

SELECTION PROCESS:


The selection process is designed in two phases:1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation.

To assess the person's skills and CV.

  • Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
