The CCB (Change Control Board)

The CCB (Change Control Board)

And then there was the CCB.

When I came on board as a Solution Architect I kept hearing about a CCB, of course I had no clue what was the meaning of CCB.

Let me be break it for you gals...
CCB Stands for  Change Control Board.

A group of stakeholders, it's not all of the stakeholders.
It's representative from the stakeholder groups.
They're the people who are designated in your project plan with the authority to make approval or denial for things and they review changes.

What I love about this is it takes the pressure off of project Solution Architect.
They evaluate them, delay them or reject changes on your project.
These are the people with the the authority.

Roles and Responsibilities in Change Management Process

Effective management of change provides a structured, consistent, and measurable change environment to be utilized across an organization and is a critical component in the success of its daily business.

Change control is a systematic approach to managing all changes made to a product or system. The purpose is to ensure that no unnecessary changes are made, that all changes are documented, that services are not unnecessarily disrupted and that resources are used efficiently.

Its goal is to increase awareness and understanding of proposed changes across the organization and ensure that all changes are made in a thoughtful way that minimize negative impacts to services and customers.

A change control document has to be a systematic and sequential entry of data supporting change in a project. It goes through an initial process of change request, through the process of change approval or denial and finally with change implementation, if it is approved.

An organization should have a document that defines the implementation of Change Management procedures.

The computing systems, networks, peripherals, and associated facilities are subject to continuous changes driven by new technology, evolving business requirements, changing contractual requirements, and growing regulatory policies.

The change manager is a key central role in the change management process. The change manager is responsible for accepting, processing, and changing status of Change Requests (CR). The change manager also develops, coordinates, and performs the final quality check of the final implementation schedule for each CR.

Effective change management applies to both systems and supporting infrastructure, and is a necessary component for the continuous success and growth of the organization.
