The Brand, Our Brand : beBee

How beBee came to us?

When we decided to create a professional network through passions and an affinity-based network , we did not have the brand. We had the idea nor the brand.

We did an internal contest among our employees with the goal of getting our brand.

I got through email a long list of ideas ... most of them around "affinity networking" concept. Some of them , good ones but not brilliant. We needed the best brand, an unbeatable one.

After 48 hours we got it.... we got one from a creative employee. He rushed to my office and told me. Javier, I got it. "We Bee"... we could associate groups to a more powerful concept - HIVES- and buzzes . beBee (a bee icon) is about buzzes, Twitter (a bird) is about tweets.

That day I had lunch with Juan - as we use to do daily - and we talked about that. We loved it but we knew it wasn’t good enough . We wanted a perfect one. And ...Finally after some alterations we got it. beBee ! be a bee , build your hive. It was very short, easy to pronounce in any language. WeBee was difficult in a lot of them (in Spanish "w" sound is difficult).

When we launched the publishing platform, we decided to call "honey" to the rich content on beBee ( the long articles or stories ), and the tool was called Producer. Bees produce honey !

What will come next ? beBee is an unique brand where you can play whatever you want :) ... beekeepers ( Hives administrators) , beBee is swarming all the world !

In the next release , beBee will have Stings. We know a sting is a bad sensation and experience for humans , so I wanted to reverse the concept to a good thing. So STINGS will be your favourite contents, your bookmarks, your favourite authors,,, you will have your honeycomb where you can enjoy in your wall only your stings :)

The best evidence of this concept, is that a lot of users have already played around this concept. And what about marketing possibilities ? Bee yourself, bee happy, bee cool.

It is different ! Different color: Orange , hexagonal button.... it is great! It is simply elegant !

As you can see , I am in love with OUR brand - yes, user's brand- it is yours too.

I think our brand is 70% of success. beBee is brilliant !. We only need to improve the platform for giving you the best user experience. As you know, we are working on a top platform. We are excited about it !

Thanks, Javier beBee, for this fascinating story of beBee origins. In response to your question, beBee for me is an invaluable and unique release for my writing skills (some would say vague scribblings), which allows me to get feedback from my developed community of 'been here a while' bees in addition to the occasional 'dipping my toe in the water' newBees. I also love to discover new writers, whether with polished or raw writing skills, and enjoy spooning back some honey for their efforts. I am looking forward to your promised 'sting' so that I can more easily track and find my favourite producers and not miss any of their honey, which slides down the wall all too quickly. 🐝🐝🐝

↗Good points David Grinberg regarding Snapchat and vdeo 📽 I joined Snapchat back in April after I listened to the Audible book #AskGarryVee. He said that Snapchat would "pop" in 2016. And it has.📈 I spent weeks watching Snapchat stories and YouTube videos on how to use Snapchat before I developed my strategy and started actively Snapchating. My strategy continues to evolve. Since Snapchat started back in 2011 it was mainly 13-24 year olds using Snapchat. Now older demographixs are migrating there. (I am 67) SUGGESTIONS FOR beBee: 1) One of my favourite Snapchat filters is where your selfie snap as a bee is superinposed on your head with honey dripping down from the top and sides and your voice synthesized to soundlike Alvin and the chipmunks. This could be a beBee feature. 2) Snapchat recently aquired Bitmoji - your personal emoji- where you can access a variety of different types of personalised emojis and also message joint emojies with another Snapchater. beBee could develope a suite of personalised bee 🐝 emojis for users. 3) Have you approached Gary Vaynerchuk or his Social Media advertising agency VanerMedia? 4) You could see if it were possible to get on the #AskGaryVeeShow on YouTube. 5) You could invite Gary Vaynerchuk to speek at yiur BeBee HQ in Madrid. ***(The downside is Gary's cursing language) 6) I think there was a beBee lady that shared a buzz about sharing a speaking stage with Gary Vaynerchuk or something like that, a few months ago. Celebrity endorsements from people like Sting or Samantha Bee would be extremely expensive and unauthentic. I think it would be easier to find a European celeb who would want to start using beBee because beBee is a European company taking on the giants of Silicon Valley. I am not saying make this a Europe vs US thing, but just as a possible way to attract a few celebs initially without having to pay big money.

In any case Javier beBee, a video under 1 minute. Much better under 40 seconds. Internet life goes enormously fast, it has to be planned as a tv spot. A very little film with a high visual impact. IMHO. 😉

exactly David. Young Influencer's in gossip perhaps (like a TMZ channel). Young bloggers/YouTube stars. I also think it would be important to focus on creating content that has the potential to go viral (millions of views). So far, I have only seen one item that possibly had that potential, and that is the Bee Gees video. But clever marketing can also do that (one clever billboard campaign in one train station for example). Edgy marketing can be very effective if done well. Another way to attract youth would be to simply become the absolutely best tool for job networking, in particular for blue collar jobs. But I am sure the beBee team are doing all this and more. We are in good hands.

What would really be buzz-worthy, albeit very challenging, is to somehow connect with the likes of iconic musical artist, Sting (former lead singer of The Police) or other well known personalities associated with bees. I'm just thinking/dreaming out loud here about some potential celebrity ambassadors (likely paid) associated with the term "sting" to take the sting out of the vernacular regarding all things beBee and take the platform to the next level. Remember, we have to think big if we want to be(bee) big and ultimately compete against other mega social media monoliths. THOUGHTS?

Thanks for more awesome buzz about the background and future of beBee. I'm ready to be stung by sweet honey via Stinger, Javier beBee! Regarding branding beBee, I think it's also of critical importance to appeal to Millennials and Generation Z. These two generations of young people not only represent future leaders, but are also a colossal user demographic which must be tapped into for platform growth and expansion going forward. This is a big challenge, especially considering with the popularity of Snapchat, Whatsapp, etc. (where most of these young folks dwell online). Thus, perhaps bees can collectively brainstorm on the most effective ways to make the beBee brand appealing to the hundreds of millions of teens and 20-somethings worldwide via a proactive social marketing effort. We simply cannot ignore this untapped demographic, despite what older generations (Gen X and Boomers) may think about them. Thus, in closing, I suggest considering a new beBee messaging app specifically directed at this gold mine of potential new users for enhanced platform growth. Javier beBee I am going to give this buzz my first sting! Now we know how the logo and idea for the brand started. For me orange signifies warmth and happiness and inquisitiveness. Orange is a mix between the energy of red with the cheerfulness of yellow. The brand beBee sounds energetic, interesting, fun, novel and uplifting. This is always my experience on beBee. I clearly have a good will and I am here to learn and to speak with you. It's not about "Me". It's not about competition. It is more about "We", our successful cooperation and about prosperity. "WE", should only mean that like-minded people are united in the aim of ensuring universal prosperity.. Can one individual’s social media activities, meaningful and honest, impact a multitude of other minds significantly? Within Chaos Theory the answer would be, yes. The Butterfly effect is about if a single occurrence, no matter how small, can change the behavior of the complex – chaotic system forever. .Only carefully written words should cause a growing clamor (determined chaos), innovation and an inevitable progress. All unpredictable and chaotic C - butterflies behave similarly. There are plenty of them and they are self-similar, although they have different colors and shapes. Luckily, there are enough of us who have already recognized that a social leadership is much more than the sum of his fragmented parts. Bebe network is a social leader and it will stay for a long time.
