Job Description and Requirements

Synopsys is looking for a Data Center Engineer to join our global Data Center team. This team handles design, vision, and driving major initiatives. We support a global data center footprint of over 10 megawatt of power, 12 Colo data centers, 10 onPrem data centers and over 50K servers.
You will have a direct impact on design architecture, new features, and technology enhancements. Your focus will be space and power optimization, hardware and OS support and asset retirement. You will work with our core data center team in the US and our global partners to optimize performance, efficiency, and support.
Responsibilities
Management of hardware installs, moves and retirements
Manage power and space capacity planning, build/expansion scoping
Experience with linux/unix system administration
Diagnose, trouble shoot and repair all data center hardware, OS and components.
Lead, direct, facilitate, and ensure implementation of site specific project
Optimize efficiency of power and space utilization
Updating asset management tool to ensure accuracy and completeness
Maintain detailed site documentation, elevations, and diagrams
Proactively develop local and global improvements for team, services, processes and tools
Lead a team of contractors/ DC technicians and provide feedback on a regular basis
This role requires on site business hours support in our Canada Datacenter

Key Qualifications

BA/BS in a technical field or equivalent experience
5+ years in data center operations, networking, or related experience
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Ability to interpret data and determine the impact on infrastructure capacity
Knowledge of electricity, monitoring and HVAC systems
Experience in network infrastructure deployments and operations
Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
Comfortable working in a fastpaced environment with flexibility to work afterhours and weekends when needed

Preferred Qualifications

MSc in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant field
Experience developing systems level KPIs that integrates engineering performance and business requirements
Network foundation knowledge and experience with Cisco network hardware and configuration is a plus
