What We Are Looking for

ISGlobal is seeking a person who provides highly qualified input and research support in order to better exploit the scientific contribution of the project. PhD in Microbiology or equivalent experience under library development for whole genome sequencing (WGS) of bacteria with Nanophore and/or Illumina platforms will be determinant. This person will be in charge of taking over and managing activities of the project Development of a new intelligent and predictive tool for the early diagnosis and improved treatment of sepsis funded by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación. The overall project goal is to develop a precision medicine solution for the diagnosis of sepsis by combining faster pathogen identification and antimicrobial susceptibility results, together with an immune system classifier method to deliver a rapid and accurate management of the patient.

• Supervise the correct development of the project from a technical point of view.
• Identify the project needs and find solutions on its deviations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Extraction of DNA
• Preparation of libraries
• Genome and plasmid sequencing

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience on whole genome and plasmid bacterial sequencing using mainly two platforms (Illumina and Nanopore), identification of Antimicrobial Resistance Genes and Virulence encoding Factors Genes as well as other molecular biology techniques in bacteria.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

• PhD in Microbiology or equivalent experience

CONDITIONS

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1 - Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
