JOB DESCRIPTION:


The IGTP needs to recruit a predoctoral researcher will be incorporated at the TIV (T-cell immunity and Vaccines group) and will work under the supervision of Drs Beatriz Mothe and Alex Olvera, both experienced investigators involved in translational research in HIV.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE:


  • Degree in Life Sciences or similar.
  • Master in Immunology, Vaccinology or Infectious diseases.
  • Previous experience with T cell immune response monitoring methodologies (ELISpot, Flow cytometry, Luminex, ELISA, etc) will be taken into consideration.
  • Knowledge on omics technologies (transcriptomics, scRNAseq, etc) will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of Tcell immunology, vaccinology, clinical research.
  • English (good comprehension and fluency both written and oral).
  • Good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Have good interpersonal skills to work in a highly collaborative environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Some of the endpoints if this study include the assessment of:

  • Functionality of NK and CD4/CD8 T cells after in-vitro stimulation with HIV and CMV peptide set weeks 0, 24 and 48 measured by multiparametric AIM and ICS flow cytometry assays.
  • Plasma levels of proinflammatory biomarkers (PCR, ddimer, IL6, IL32, IL8, TNFa, IFNg, and sCD14) and antiinflammatory biomarkers (IL10, TGFb) at weeks 0, 2, 24 and 4
  • T cell frequencies with activation (CCR7, CD45RA, HLA-DR, CD38, CD25 and CD69), exhaustion (PD1/LAG3, TIGIT) and senescence markers (CD28, CD57) at weeks 0, 24 and 48 measured by multiparametric flow cytometry assays.
  • Immune assays to measure T cell responses like ELISPOT, flow cytometry, and cytokine secretion assays (Luminex, Olink, ELISA, etc).
  • Changes in gene expression using transcriptomics, epigenetics, and proteomics analysis.
  • Validation of biomarkers in plasma, PBMC, in vitro cell cultures, etc. Most of the work will be performed under BSL2, BSL3, and BSL3plus conditions.
