Postdoc Researcher

Ophthalmology Research Group

Specialization:
Stem cells and organoids, cell therapy, animal models in retinal degenerative diseases

Supervisors:
Dr. Miguel Zapata and Dr. Anna Duarri

Research topic:
Retinal organoids as a tool for developing cell therapies to treat retinal degenerative diseases, file

PID OB-C32 and financed by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación-MICINN

We are seeking a talented and motivated junior postdoc to join a research team headed by Dr. Josep García Arumí, Dr.

Anna Duarri and Dr. Miguel Zapata at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institut (VHIR)

pigmentosa or age-related macular degeneration using retinal organoids as a model. The major research focus is on

restoring retinal function in animal models.


Education and qualifications:

**Required:
- **PhD in the field of Life Sciences (Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences.)

  • Animal Experimentation title is an advantage

Experience and knowledge:

**Required:
- **Communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English

Experience with small laboratory animals

  • Experience in stem cells and organoids
  • Experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques

Desired:

Interest in learning, able to work independently, critical thinking

  • Good computer skills, basic knowledge of bioinformatic and statistical analysis
  • Teamwork, proactivity (ability to work independently when necessary), and wellorganized and responsible
person at work


Main responsibilities and duties:
-

Gain experience in human stem cells and organoid systems

  • Development of cell therapies, animal surgery, and in vivo monitoring
  • Work with laboratory animals
  • Gain experience in grant proposal and manuscript writing

Labour conditions:

Full-time position: 40h/week.


  • Starting date: immediate.
  • Gross annual salary: 24.785,40€ /// (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are
consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
