Research Description
The Leukaemia and Immuno-Oncology Group led by Dr. Laura Belver at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is seeking for a motivated RESEARCH ASSISTANT in training.

Our work focuses on pathologies linked to the hematopoietic system, with special interest in leukaemia and autoimmune disorders.

The two fundamental lines of research carried out by our team address:

  • 1) The characterization of the molecular mechanisms driving different types of paediatric leukaemias and the identification of potential strategies for their treatment.
  • 2) The study of autoimmune processes, both chronic (e.g. systemic lupus erythematosus) and derived from the therapeutic use of immune checkpoint inhibitors in cancer patients.

Our projects lay in the boundary between basic (molecular mechanisms) and preclinical (design of new therapies) research, and are developed using molecular and cell biology techniques, bioinformatics analysis, and _in vivo_ experimental models.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry techniques.
  • Support for the development of a project on autoimmune disorders.
  • Data management and analysis related to the project.
  • Collection and storage of biological samples related to the project.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

What we need

  • BSc degree in a biomedicinerelated discipline.
  • A high level of motivation and interest.
  • Proficient in writing and speaking in English.
  • Ability to handle varying workloads and aptitude for teamwork.
  • Organized, proactive, selfmotivated, and enthusiastic.

What we offer

  • 1 year contract (contrato para la obtención de la práctica profesional)
  • An exciting and innovative research project.
  • Working in the mixed basic and clinical research environment of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute.
  • Incorporation in a multinational and highly collaborative team.
  • The stimulating environment of the Barcelona metropolitan area.

Who we are?
The European Commission awarded the IJC the HR Excellence seal in July 2019. The IJC continues to work to maintain its policies in line with the Charter and Code principles.

The HRS4R has the main objective of ensuring that research centers of excellence implement and respect the requirements of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for hiring researchers (from here on referred to as the Charter and Code) within their human resources policies.

This EC initiative aims to promote training, professional development, and mobility for all European scientists.

The IJC supports these values and principles, which will not only serve to strengthen its internal policies but will actively stimulate excellent research and firmly situate the organization as an institution with a stimulating working environment that favors the development of its scientists.
