AstraZeneca's R&D Data Office is an industry-leading enabler of data and AI strategy.

The Data Office provides data services, technology, and data products, supported by data and AI policy and governance, to unlock the value of data that drive innovative science.

The Data Lead position is based in the newly created Scientific Data Products and Platforms (SDPP) group within the R&D Data Office, which is part of Data Science and AI in AZ R&D.

The position will serve as an enabler of the SDPP Data strategy and will play a key role in delivering high impact data driven initiatives.

This role requires a combination of strategic and organizational skills, technical expertise and process management, coupled with robust collaborative abilities to effectively manage and communicate requirements for data products and services within the integrated data platforms.

Together with the SDPP FAIR Data Integration Lead, you will deliver against the SDPP Data Strategy by establishing and operating the Data Product Lifecycle within SDPP, working with stakeholders to capture data product requirements, managing the data product backlog to deliver prioritized Data Products to
support the business' data strategy and scientific objectives.

By enabling the delivery of multimodality data products across the drug development pipeline, SDPP will enable scientists to find integrate and re-use, at scale scientific data products to make new correlations, better characterize disease, improve patient stratification, monitor therapeutic response and ultimately accelerate the drug development process
.

Typical Accountabilities

Contribute to and maintain a comprehensive SDPP product roadmap that aligns with the SDPP data strategy and organizational priorities.
Collaborate with scientists, researchers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure that our data products support AZ's scientific objectives.
Manage the data product backlog with a strong focus on data centric features and act as the interface to the SDPP domain platform owners to implement.
Data model development to support multimodality data integration use cases.
Develop and manage data curation rules to create high quality harmonized integrated data products.
Develop and operate the SDPP Data Product Lifecycle, including the processes and tools required to operationalize and ensure data products are fit for purpose from inception to reuse.
Work closely with SDPP data engineers and developers to oversee the product development process, ensuring timely delivery and quality output.
Take responsibility for the quality and integrity of the data within the product, implementing measures to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Ensure data products adhere to relevant standards and data governance policies.
Ensure alignment of SDPP data product development is aligned with the Data Product practices set out by the enterprise.
Deliver SDPP data products into key Data Office Strategic Projects

Education, Qualifications, Skills
and Experience

Essential

Handson experience from Agile development, preferably in a business context.
Relevant degree in Information/Data Science, Computer Science, Informatics, IT, or other related discipline.
Experience of pharma and the life sciences
Experience of senior data leadership
Track record of significant strategic data project delivery with demonstration of clear scientific and/or operational value
Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships.
Conflict resolution: succeeding in situations where a high degree of business acumen, influencing and tact are required to find a way forward.
Needs the energy, experience, and motivation to work across global & functional boundaries.
Travel willingness and ability to travel domestically & internationally.
Resilience ability to overcome and motivate others in the face of a changing environment

Desirable

Experience of achieving tangible and acknowledged value in a similar position and scale of challenge and opportunity.
Knowledge of Drug Discovery and Development practice in BioPharma
Strong Change Management track record.
Experience project manager with a great understanding of the project phase and the connection between classic project management and Agile ways of working.
Experience of running project in a GxP regulated environment
