Introduction to Role:


Join our team as the Senior Director, Global Alliance Strategy Lead, a key role within the External R&D and Strategic Alliances.

This role is a crucial part of our global effort to enhance and optimize our collaborative efforts in Oncology.

As the Senior Director, EU Alliance Lead, you will primarily support in defining and leading EU External R&D strategy, implementing tailored engagement plans in Europe, and building Regional Academic Ecosystems to support Oncology strategy.

Your experience, leadership, and extensive expertise in oncology will be instrumental in promoting effective cross-functional work and improving alliance management.


Accountabilities:


In this role, you will closely collaborate with the Global Strategic Alliance Lead to define strategy for external research collaborations for Oncology.

You will promote cross-functional work within Oncology R&D teams, contribute to the portfolio review of partnerships in Hematology/Oncology R&D organization within EU, and develop and execute strategies for external scientific collaborations in EU with key external academic partners.

You will also maintain up-to-date knowledge of AZ pipeline, strategy and vision, and ensure compliance with all company compliance and regulatory guidelines governing external interactions.


Essential Skills/Experience:


  • Advanced degree, PhD and or MD (in sciences) with 10 years ́ experience in pharmaceutical industry and extensive knowledge of Hematology/Oncology drug development
  • Evidence of working in crossfunctional teams and working in a matrix organization
  • Experience of authoring scientific documents and technical and disease area knowledge
  • Experience in academic partnership excellence; experience building, maintaining and closing external collaborations
  • Negotiation skills and ability to work with others inside and outside AstraZeneca
  • Ability to assess issues/risks and effectively implement remediation measurements
  • Ability to understand contractual agreement structure, terms and obligations
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Capacity to work crossfunctionally and to influence people without direct authority
  • Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong project management and crossfunctional team management skills
  • Ability to travel internationally
