- Maintaining and adding new features to our storage engine format (Java/Scala and some parts in Rust)
- Updating and maintaining ourregression benchmark process to test performance and stability
- Boost our observability features to include more plots, metrics and possibly alerts
- Implement support for other open table formats (Iceberg for example)
- Overall product quality including continuous perf evaluation
- Other things of your interest, we're a startup so there is lot to be done
- A minimum of five years of professional experience
- Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent degree
- Strong knowledge of data structure and I/O operations
- Experience running Spark in production
- English proficient at work
- Willing to come to the office for 2 days a week
- Organized, autonomous, and proactive
- Willing to keep learning, sharing knowledge with others

Qbeast is a spin-off of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) with an innovative approach to Big Data by providing great insights while accessing only the minimum quantity of data. We provide the necessary infrastructure and tools for companies to ingest, transform and analyze large amounts of data in seconds.

The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an individual to join our team and work on our newly developed Universal Storage Engine (USE) product. This role will involve tasks related to our critical storage engine format designed for data lakehouse.You will collaborate closely with the rest of the team to implement unique features that are not currently available in the market.
