- To be specialized in numerical weather prediction and extreme weather modelling with a focus on severe convective hazards.
- To contribute to the study of climate processes and their impact on regional and local weather patterns and extremes at different time scales.
- To collaborate with other scientists and software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain software products and services.
- To contribute to the development and implementation of catastrophe risk modelling solutions for the humanitarian and insurance sectors to enhance societal resilience to natural hazards and mitigate climate change impacts.
- Education
- To have a degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, atmospheric physics and dynamics or any other related field.
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Proven track record in the study of severe convective systems and related hazards.
- Expert in numerical weather prediction.
- Experience or strong interest in AI/ML tools and their application to extreme weather modelling and forecast
- Experience in statistical downscaling for the definition of regional distribution and time evolution of small-scale features given large-scale coarse resolution analyses, forecasts, or simulations
- Competences

- Ability to take ownership of and work independently to manage projects through to completion.
- Very strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Detail orientation, thoroughness, reliability, and ability to prioritize are required.
- Proficiency in English is a must. Good handling of Spanish is required.
