The Atradius Group provides trade credit insurance, surety, and collections services worldwide, and has a presence through 160 offices in 52 countries.

The products offered by Atradius protect companies around the world against the default risks associated with selling goods and services on credit.

Department Description

The Strategy and Corporate Development (SCD) unit:

supports the company in continuously reviewing, formulating, updating, and implementing its corporate strategy,

- monitors the business and IT platform integration of our SPB business,
- supports the Management Board in assessing and grasping strategic opportunities, e.g., M&A activities, strategic cooperations or geographical expansions,
- takes the lead in world-wide, cross-functional projects and initiatives which have a direct impact on P&L and balance sheet,
- drives the management and development of existing and new product and services,
- supports the Management Board and especially the CEO by producing strategic management information and addressing requests from their stakeholders (e.g., supervisory board, rating agencies).

SCD is organised around four different teams, each under a manager's supervision: Corporate Strategy and Business Development, Strategic Planning and Analysis, Product Underwriting, and Integration.

There are currently 20 colleagues plus interns working for SCD, based in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Cardiff, Cologne, Copenhagen, London, and Madrid.

As Product Expert you will be part of the Product Underwriting Team, with 4 FTEs. You will report to the Head of Product Underwriting. Preferred location for the job is Madrid.

In this position your key responsibilities will be:

Draft, review newly and existing drafted insurance wording to continuously improve our (Modula) product suite of wordings. This includes both new standard wording and wording specifically created for a specific customer. In the process identify gaps or areas for improvement, ensure wording is written in the spirit of the Modula concept and propose necessary changes where needed.
Work closely with Product Experts from the various commercial markets around the globe, other SCD Product Experts and other central departments such a Group Legal and Compliance to ensure insurance wordings comply with regulations and internal guidelines.
Contribute and support our commercial teams around the globe in the development of new credit insurance products. Understand market needs, pricing strategies, governance implications, system implications and competitive landscape.
Support and advise colleagues about Atradius Policy Underwriting governance and review from time to time our governance. Educate internal teams (underwriters, sales, etc.) on policy structures, wording nuances, and best practices.
Working on our products that cover both traditional and nontraditional credit insurance products (e.g. Trade Finance, Topup, noncan etc.).

Required qualifications:

Solid background in credit insurance and its processes. Legal background a bonus.
Fluent in English. If English is not already your native language; at least one other European language would be an advantage.
Proficiency in drafting clear and precise insurance wording is essential. You'll need to understand, review and where needed create policy wording that fits within the spirit and concept of Atradius Modula product (and other products where needed).
Understanding how insurance policies are structured is vital. This involves grasping the various components, such as deductibles, credit limits, trade financiers, and exclusions.
Awareness and understanding of the internal governance model within an insurance company is crucial. This includes compliance, risk management, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Atradius products.
