Research is focused on stem cell encapsulation in polymeric biomaterials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications.
Aqueous-based processing and chemical techniques are used to modify natural polymers with small or macromolecular moieties to obtain biomaterials for cell encapsulation with tunable properties.
The stem cell response to biomaterials with different features is studied to understand how the material properties can address to a specific tissue formation.
