I am a Chief Process Automation and Optimization Engineer with 17+ years of experience that has pursued advanced Industrial Systems (Advanced Process Control, Mechatronics, Industrial IT) and Chemical Engineering education and has broad experience on the full life cycle of PLC, DCS and SCADA systems (design, implementation, commissioning, maintenance), configuration and troubleshooting of communication networks (certified CCNA routing and switching / security), engineering design of control systems (control philosophy, detailed design specifications), testing (FAT, SAT), entire range of documentation (tenders, drawings, schedules, diagrams, reports), process and asset optimisation, commissioning and start-up of green / brownfield projects, plant-wide stability analysis and project management.

Committed in the past to the commissioning and optimization of the control systems at the Shell QGC LNG upstream project (O&G) and as APC engineer for the O&G and minerals processing industries, I had the opportunity to get valuable expertise in process data analysis, process optimization using advanced process control, instrumentation, design and commissioning of the process control systems (PCS), safety systems (SIS), power systems (PMS, IEDs), industrial network (I/O network, switches, firewalls, routers), design and commissioning of human-machine interfaces (graphics, intelligent alarming, behavioural analysis), SCADA systems back-office (databases, Microsoft servers, VMware virtual machines). My experience includes the interaction with the EPC / Operator completions team (MOC, as-built documentation, coordination of day-to-day activities, safety culture – permit to work system, isolations) and work as team leader.

From 2008 to 2013 and from 2019 to 2023 I have worked in the design and implementation of novel optimisation solutions for mineral processing operations and equipment (grinding circuits, flotation banks, thickening, crushers) using APC technologies (e.g. MPC, fuzzy logic and expert systems) which are used also in the Oil & Gas industry.

To complement my technical expertise, I have managed projects of up to 5M dollars in which I had to plan and be part of the team that designed, implemented, commissioned and maintained these automation solutions. My management line and clients had praised my effective control of communications, time, deliverables and budget (see CV references). Also, my ability to transfer the installed technology to key stakeholders such as plant and junior engineers, supervisors and control room operators has contributed decisively to the success of the solutions. Success stories were jointly published with clients in technical papers and events.
