It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is a hosting member of the PRACE European distributed supercomputing infrastructure. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 800 staff from 55 countries.

Requirements:


  • Education
  • PhD in Applied Mathematics or equivalent
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Strong background on geometry, numerical methods and partial differential equations
Experience in the development of software tools of at least 3 years.

  • Julia, C, C++, Matlab, Python
  • Finite element method: continuous Galerkin, discontinuous Galerkin
  • A master thesis or final project in applied mathematics
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Competences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capacity to interact and build strong relations with a diverse members/stakeholder/staff base
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department
  • We offer a fulltime contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with stateoftheart infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Openended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
  • Starting date: 01/07/2023
