    Context And Mission
  • The Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is looking for a manager of the HPC User support and HLST team to join the BSC-CNS's Operations Department.
  • The position will be responsible for the management of the HPC User support team and the Highlevel support team at BSC and will have the responsibility to ensure the proper support for all the HPC users using BSC machines. Also, the position will have an essential role in European and national projects coordinating different tasks and cooperating with other centers in EU infrastructures to reinforce the use of HPC and Big Data around the EU researchers.
  • The HPC support team is in charge of the contact with the users and the resolution of the 1st, 2nd and 3rdlevel requests. Also, the team manages all the tools providing the accounting information, job monitoring and status of their jobs to the users.
    Key Duties
  • Lead the HPC support team and HLST team at BSC.
  • Support to researchers within their work field: (Engineering, Chemistry, Biology,... )
  • Addressing scientific user issues as they are encountered as users pursue HPC results on the supercomputing resources available.
  • Participating in European einfrastructures projects like EuroHPC,RES, HBP and others.
  • Coordinate the federated User support team within the Red Española de Supercomputación.

Requirements:


  • Education
  • Bachelor in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Physics or related discipline.
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- at least 15 years of experience in a similar position as a manager
- at least 15 years of experience in providing HPC user support in a multidisciplinary environment like BSC.

  • Expertise in working with codes programmed in Fortran, C, MPI, OpenMP, and other parallel methods
  • Expertise with the use of performance analysis tools, compiler analysis tools, and debuggers
  • A thorough understanding of high performance computing architectures.
  • Experience with nonrelation databases and cloud environments
  • Experience participating as a leading role in European projects and infrastructures.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Good level of English and Spanish.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to work within a team to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Experience coordinating the work of other parts of the team.
  • Analytical problem solving ability.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced, high volume, deadlinedriven environment.
