The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress.     Context And Mission
  • The Transcriptomics and Functional Genomics lab within the Life Sciences Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Group Leader to coordinate its research line. The lab focuses on understanding how genomic information influences gene expression variation across individuals and cell types, with the ultimate goal of elucidating the role of gene expression in phenotypic differences and disease. The Group Leader will play a pivotal role in the guidance of the researchers team, conducting cuttingedge research, and collaborating with international research groups to advance our understanding of transcriptomics and functional genomics.
    Key Duties
  • Lead and coordinate a team of researchers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to achieve research goals.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of research projects, ensuring alignment with the lab's scientific aims and collaboration with the Life Science's mission.
  • Conduct innovative research in the field of transcriptomics and functional genomics, leveraging computational tools and highthroughput functional assays.
  • Collaborate with internal and external research groups, consolidating existing interdisciplinary collaborations and forging new alliances to advance the field of transcriptomics and functional genomics.
  • Write and submit project proposals of the highest scientific quality to seek competitive financial support at the international and European levels.

Requirements:


  • Education
  • Ph.
D. or equivalent degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field.

  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Proven experience leading a research group.
  • Proven track record of conducting cuttingedge research in transcriptomics, genomics, or related fields, as evidenced by publications in peerreviewed scientific journals.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing research projects, including the supervision of research staff and students.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Prior experience in grant writing and securing research funding from competitive funding agencies.
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
  • Competences
  • Team management skills, with the ability to motivate team members to achieve the group's research goals.
  • Capacity to contribute to research projects with novel research ideas and analysis.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to scientific rigor.
  • Excellent communication skills to specialised audiences.

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the [department] Department
  • We offer a fulltime contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with stateoftheart infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Indefinite Contract
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
