CITRE, based in Seville, Spain, is Bristol Myers Squibb's research institute in Europe, and our link to the European research community.

Informatics & Predictive Sciences at CITRE performs innovative computational research to inform decisions across all stages of drug development.

Areas of research include computational and network biology, machine/deep learning, cheminformatics, predictive modeling, patient stratification, target ID and method development for analysis and interpretation of biological data.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a motivated, collaborative computational scientist to join our group in Seville and help us drive innovative drug development.

The successful applicant will design and execute novel analytical approaches to high-throughput biological data with the aim of generating insights that will drive successful drug discovery programs.

You will establish methods for the analysis and interpretation of data from emerging profiling techniques, such as phenotypic screens in patient-relevant models or multidimensional molecular profiling of patient material.

Together with computational and experimental colleagues, you will investigate disease states, therapeutic mechanisms, and link patient biology to relevant in-vitro models.

Your ability to deeply understand the scientific context and to communicate methodology and results to an interdisciplinary audience will be essential.

This position combines tackling challenging scientific problems with working towards the benefit of patients with unmet medical need.

You will be encouraged to contribute creative solutions and to identify new opportunities to accelerate drug discovery through computational innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish principles for effective mining of new knowledge from patientderived and preclinical data sources to formulate biologically sound mechanistic disease hypotheses.
  • Design the analytical framework for modeling data generated via novel technologies and evaluate their potential and applicability for pharmaceutical innovation.
  • Leverage realworld and clinical datasets to reverse translate patient biology to develop new therapies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Ph.
D. in a relevant area, such as computational biology, computer science, biostatistics or similar.

  • Strong statistical programming and data manipulation skills, using contemporary opensource bioinformatics tools (e.g., R/Bioconductor and Python) and databases using readable and reproducible code
  • Experience in analysis of highthroughput molecular data. Experience developing methods to analyze novel functional genomics or sequencing methods would be a strong plus.
  • Good understanding of the applicability, advantages and limitations of statistical tests and machine learning algorithms
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent communication, data presentation, and visualization skills.
  • Fluent in written and oral English.
