Context And Mission
The Computational Genomics group seeks a technician with a computer science or bioinformaticsrelated background to develop a Data Engineering process, develop a genomic/clinic Big Data Platform and ETL processes to build a web portal for allowing data searching, one of the key processes in the research activity of Personalized Medicine. Moreover, this person will support the activity of genomic analysis, research and benchmarking of bioinformatics tools.
This activity will also design and implement a pilot integration of data infrastructures in a national and international environment within the projects IMPaCT (Infraestructura de Medicina de Precisión) and EuCanCan (EUropean-CANadian Cancer), respectively.
Key Duties
Design and implementation of large computing infrastructures for the implementation of Personalized Medicine within the Healthcare system.
Possibility to coordinate and supervise other students within the group.

Requirements:

Education
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Basic experience in computational environments, like Unix and with basic programming skills.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Experience within biomedical and bigdata related research will be prioritized.
Fluency in spoken and written English
Competences
Good communication and presentation skills

Conditions

The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department
