JOB DESCRIPTION

Education and qualifications:


Required:
-

FPII degree, preferably in Bioinformatics specialty; or Bioinformatics degree student (2nd-3rd year)

  • Fluency in Catalan, Spanish, English (business level)

Desired:

Knowledge of computer systems maintenance (backups, software installation, users management, etc.)


Experience and knowledge:


Required:

Management of computer systems (Unix, Mac): backups, creation of users, etc.

  • Ability to organize computational tasks

Main responsibilities and duties:
-


Overview:
The selected individual will oversee the operation and upkeep of the Clinical and Translational
Bioinformatics group's computing system. Responsibilities include routine system maintenance, troubleshooting
and repair, and coordinating with VHIR's administration for procurement tasks such as ordering replacement
parts and new workstations, as well as setting up new hardware and software. In some circumstances, the

  • System administration tasks required by the computer system used in the Clinical and Translational
Bioinformatics group (several HP/Mac workstations and NAS systems).

  • Assist users in the installation of software, in managing their accounts, etc.
  • Collaborate with the VHIR's Informatics and Maintenance teams whenever required (taking responsibility for the
downtime of the computer system whenever requested by these teams)

  • Support users in their bioinformatics needs, accessing bioinformatics servers, download massive datasets, etc.
  • Maintenance tasks of the group's website )
  • Bioinformatics work related to finishing ongoing projects

Labour conditions:

Part-time position: 20h/week.
