Are you a firmware engineer willing to improve people's lives? The Digital Healthcare division at Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) is looking for an experienced Firmware Engineer to join our Medical Products Group in Wilmington, Massachusetts. We're looking for an analytical, detail-oriented teammate with demonstrated experience in firmware development.

In this role, you will deliver high quality, performant, and production-quality firmware for ADI's medical products and you will collaborate with hardware, system, and test engineers through the complete product life cycle of medical products, from conception to deployment and maintenance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Main task: Design the firmware architecture of a medical product, including defining the communication protocols to be used.
  • Collaborate with hardware designers, testers, biomedical engineers, and UX designers to develop device firmware through the complete product life cycle, from conception to deployment and maintenance.
  • Diagnose complex system issues, involving biophysical, electrical, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Follow medical device software development processes, adhering to industry and regulatory standards.

Expected Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Expertlevel C/C++ programming skills.
  • 10+ years of experience with embedded Real-Time Operating Systems, such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr and μCOS.
  • Handson design, development, and debugging skills in resourceconstrained, lowpower computational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ARMbased architectures and bus protocols, including I2C, SPI, and USB.
  • Direct experience with SCM tools, such as GIT, SVN, Clearcase, Perforce, etc.
  • Practical experience with defect tracking tools, including JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.

Nice to have:

  • Prior development experience in medical device firmware.
  • Knowledge of medical device standards, including IEC62304 and IEC1497
  • Understanding of wireless communication protocols, such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and 3GPP cellular protocols.
  • Programming skills in scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, Javascript, Bash, etc.
  • Applied knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) techniques and algorithm development.
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience working in a startup environment
  • Experience working with distributed engineering and operations teams
