  • Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads largescale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 800 staff from 55 countries.

    Context And Mission
  • The Earth System Services Group (ESS) at the Earth Sciences Department conducts interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research to enhance societal value of climate prediction services, atmospheric composition and weather forecasting. The group actively engages with society, decisionmakers and businesses to exchange knowledge and develop useroriented services. The aim of the ESS is to enhance knowledge and technology transfer and improve resilience by accelerating adaptation to a rapidly changing environment.

Key Duties

  • Coordinate and explore synergies between research centers, academic institutions, public administration and private sector at National and International level
  • Attend international initiatives in the field of climate services and climate change adaptation to interact with other research institutions and stakeholders
  • Help focusing the research lines of the Earth System Services Group to advance sustainable development in key sectors of society
  • Advise the Knowledge Integration Team strategic planning and mentor junior colleagues
  • Participate in the key publications of the Knowledge Integration Team

Requirements:


  • Education
  • PhD in social sciences (Philosophy, Economics, Political Sciences etc.)
  • Postgraduate studies in Knowledge and Technology Transfer, Sociology Economics or Communication will be valued
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • More than 15 years of experience in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinarity research and practice
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Previous experience in climate services for the private sector, governance and private sector engagement for transformations to sustainability.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Experience in private sector
  • Previous experience in standardisation processes
  • Competences
  • Ability to work in a professional environment within a multidisciplinary and international team
  • Good organizational skills and interest in project and team management
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Earth Sciences Department
  • We offer a fulltime contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with stateoftheart infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Openended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
  • Starting date: 01/09/2023
