This is what you will do:

The Associate Director Alliance, Project Management is an essential member of the alliance team within the Development Productivity and Quality (DPQ) department.


This position encompasses a dual-function capacity as a Global Alliance Manager and Project Manager for the EU Hub in Barcelona, focusing on high-priority projects assigned by the local leadership team related to the Therapeutic Area expansion, resourcing, and planning.


You will be accountable for effectively leveraging your strategic planning, collaboration, and leadership skills to drive the success of complex initiatives, optimize alliance performance, and ensure flawless project execution.

This role requires a driven individual with a sense of urgency, agility, and the ability to effectively manage changing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


You will be responsible for:


  • Provide integral support to alliance directors by assisting with project management activities and overseeing daytoday tasks to ensure seamless operations and the successful execution of alliance initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration with crossfunctional teams, including R&D, Finance, Portfolio Management, and HR, to drive joint initiatives and effectively achieve alliance goals.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset to lead and manage multiple complex projects throughout their lifecycle, ensuring strict adherence to scope, budget, timeline, and quality standards. Effectively manage project teams, resources, risks, and dependencies to drive project success and accomplish strategic objectives.
  • Develop compelling presentations and perform comprehensive data analysis to facilitate wellinformed, forwardlooking decisionmaking, enabling the organization to make strategic choices and optimize project outcomes.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements, ensuring that approaches align with the relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a flexible mindset that consistently anticipates, identifies, generates, and evaluates alternative solutions best suited to meet the business needs.
  • Identify, address, and resolve any collaborationrelated issues to maintain the progress and timelines of the portfolio.
  • Employ proactive stakeholder management and alignment strategies to achieve the organizational vision by collaborating, influencing, and fostering partnerships with crucial global stakeholders and colleagues across Alexion and AstraZeneca.

You will need to have:


  • Graduate degree (BSc/MSc) in a sciencerelated industry or in business administration, accompanied by a proven track record in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel and deliver results in a dynamic, fastpaced entrepreneurial environment, showcasing exceptional problemsolving skills and a proactive approach to promptly address and follow up on urgent matters.
  • Proven experience collaborating in crossfunctional teams to successfully execute complex projects alongside senior leaders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, adept at engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong business acumen and organizational skills, effectively presenting information to support senior leaders in making informed decisions.
  • Sound understanding of project management methodologies and tools, ensuring efficient and successful project delivery.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility in navigating changing priorities and ambiguity, maintaining a solutionoriented mindset.
  • Proactive attitude towards identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing innovative solutions to drive operational excellence.
  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment.
