What reality are you creating for yourself?
What does reality really mean? Is my reality same than yours? Could it be different? The answer is YES. Maybe some of you would ask me, why do you think so? The reason was an incredible and inspirational TED Talks's video I recently watched, where Isaac Lidsky talks about how everyone of us "create" our reality and why could not be the same depending on your feelings, your attitude, your fears or your experience. I really recommend you to watch this video (you can do it clickling on Isaac Lidsky's picture).
"Reality isn't something you perceive; it's something you create in your mind."
Reality is not what you see, is a perspective, a complex mental construction of your own making. You create your own reality, and you believe it. As Isaac explains, when he became blind, he knew that situation would ruin his life, it would be the end of his achievement, he would live sad and likely alone. At least that was a fiction born of his fears, but he believed it. It was a lie, but also it was his reality. Fortunatelly he confronted his fears and his life changed drastically. He got married with Dorothy and had 4 children.
here)Seeing is believing, sight is truth?
What we see is not universal truth, it is not objective reality. What we see is a unique personal virtual reality. "Sight is an illusion: 1/3 part of it is made of our eye's information and 2/3 of processing resources." To create the experience of sight, your brain represents your conceptual understanding of the world, your knowledge, your memories, opinions, emotions, mental attention, and it links it to your sight.
What you see impacts how you feel, and the way you feel can literally changes what you see. What you see is a complex mental construction of your own making. You create your own reality, and you believe it.
Your fear disturbs your reality
"Fear replaces the unknown with the awful." Imagine fear as a kaleidoscope. Fear can change the way you see what is all around you, sending messages to your brain that what is in front of you is a threat or not. Fear passes off what you threat for what you know, offers of the worst replacing the ambiguous and substitutes asumptions for reason. Fear lets you think something is impossible just to not confront it, fear is an alert telling your brain you are in danger (when maybe you are not).As someone recently asked me: what definition do you choose for fear? False Evidence Appearing Real... or Face Everything And Rise? Fear has two different meanings, depending on how powerful is that feeling. What is your choice?
(Want to know what kind of fears are there? Read "Have no fear, have a beer".)
"The only thing worse than being blind is having sight, but no vision."
Hellen Keller
Can we change our reality?
Isaac Lidsky recommends us to identify our own reality in order to decide to change it or not. "Hold yourself accountable for every moment, every thought, every detail. See beyond your fears, recognize your asumptions, harvest your internal strenghts, silence your internal critics, correct your misconceptions about luck and success, accept you strengths and your weeknesses and understand the difference."
"Your fears, your critics, your heroes, your villains, they are your excuses, rationalizations, shortcuts, justifications, your surrender. They are fictions you perceive as reality. YOU are the creator of your reality."
What do you fear? What lies do you tell yourself? How do you embellence your truths and write your own fictions? What reality are you creating for yourself?

It's true, you have to recognize it. Sometimes it's hard to admit because it makes a person feel weak or that others will view them as weak if they try to ignore it. Fears just don't go away on their own :)

thanks Lisa \ud83d\udc1d Gallagher! I really appreciate your comment about alternative treatments to connect our brain to our body. Now I must read more about it. First step to fight against fear: recognize it. ;)
