What a lesson !

What a lesson !

- You are losing 2 sets to 0
- You are 35 years old, your opponent is 10 years younger than you and if he wins he becomes number 1 in the world.
- You have been playing for 5 and a half hours.
- You come from an injury that almost ended your career.

There are plenty of arguments to justify a defeat and still remain a legend. Nothing would have happened.

Any of us with less, would not even have tried, but Nadal is made of different stuff.

What a lesson! What a lesson, and there are already 21, today for tomorrow and what an inspiration to keep going and to keep fighting for your dreams.

In these times when everything seems to be against us and we have plenty of excuses to lose, we need many Rafas in our teams.

Incredible !

Thank you for sharing .. this inspiring outcome .. wish I'd seen the match

quoting Lave Kiffin ..

"I don't know if God is a sports fan or not, but I do know this: He loves a good comeback.

To do the impossible, you must be able to see the invisible."

.. a deep well of invisible qualities in this extraordinary athlete .. we can only guess at:

.. uncounted hours & years of preparation .. sacrifice .. a heart set as flint .. grit .. resolve .. support and only God knows

Experience 100/100 !!!!

#5 @Ken Boddie

No, I have never been lucky enough to meet him in person, but I have met people very close to me, like my first cousin, and he tells me that he is all about generosity, so I believe him, anyway you don't need to be very smart to realize that Rafa is like that, as he tells me, not only when he wins, but also of course when he loses. When he loses he is an example.

javier, I don't follow tennis, but I know true grit when I hear about it. My only hope is that some of today's young people have learned this lesson as i fear the world will require all of us to have more grit in the future.

I watched this match, Javier, and must admit that I had written Rafa off when he was two sets to love down. I don’t know how he executed such a comeback. As they say, “Mind over matter”. One of the best finals that has been seen at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne.
