The Honey Hive: How to Reach Your Goals at Work and in Life

Recently I have published some buzzes about coaching resources and I have seen some interest on it. I have loved challenging @Mamen Delgado. So Mamen and  @Julie Hickman were really interested in the topic. They both have noticed the same paragraph with one really powerful exercise , and by the way the most effective one for those who use it.

I have also learned so far that when we speak about the coaching resources the most difficult part is actually doing it. So I decided to offer a practical coaching course for my beBee followers and every Bee who would like to join.

This is why I created the hive called The Honey Hive. So I invite you to the 1st practical course  "How to Reach Your Goals at Work and in Life"

The class will be each Wednesday. For example, on Wednesday 24th of August I will post a buzz about how this course works, and on Wednesday 31st I will offer you a post with theory content and some funny exercises about the topic. If you are interested you can actively participate, and if you already know the things I explain to you in my post, just wait till the next one :)

On 7th September I will ask you to send me some feedback about the exercises I gave you, about your doubts and questions. This way I will be able to help you more. And so on till I finalise all the content.

About me:

I always wanted to be a teacher. I was born as a teacher. When I was young I used to take all my dolls, seat in the sofa and pretend that I am in class.

When I had to choose my career, I perfectly knew that I was going to become a language teacher. I had two options; I was able to choose between being a translator (a very prestigious career at that time) and pedagogy. I choose pedagogy.

The subject I enjoyed the most was coaching for teaching . During 5 years at the begging of the class, they told us: if the student is mentally healthy and hasn’t understood the topic you explained , means that the teacher hasn’t done his or her work properly. And they taught us some fun an creative resources to be able to help our future students.

And then, they explained us again how our minds work, the traps that exist when learning, and how we can deal with it.

I graduated with A+, not because I was a nerd; but for studying what I loved and I dedicated the next 22 years to teach. I remember my coaching classes every day, and I use the resources they gave us and what they taught us, and I am thankful about the knowledge my teachers gave me.

I have clearly seen that the role of a teacher is not to offer academic material, it is to teach how to study, give the adequate resources for that and to control the execution of the different tasks.

This is the only way to help the student.

So, to have and efficient educative process you need:

  • academic material: this is what the student needs to know
  • learning resources: basic tools about how to properly learn
  • motivation to act: it is the bridge between where you are right now and where you want to be at.
  • Having control over the process: people are lazy, so it is vital to have control.

These four points allowed my students to achieve their goals. With this four points they understood that the only one limitation that exists is the one they do themselves.

And I, understood the importance of coaching in a learning experience.

The real teachers, the ones that actually care about their students, know that the relationship teacher-student is indeed very deep. And I clearly saw that coaching really helped my students, and they loved and really helped them being motivated. Knowing that there is someone out there that believes in them achieving what they want.

The ones that know about what coaching is about, perfectly understand that they can apply it on any aspect of their lives. When I explain it to my students, I usually suggest them to follow this “rule”, as it can help them in their daily lives. It helps you understand how you WANT to BE, how you are, and how to change.

I hope you like it, I am open to any suggestion, see you on Wednesday,

Anna
