Picks and other accessories you may need

I remember, in some of my lessons, I didn't have some material (sometimes, in all these years I've been teaching) and the homemade solutions I did, that now with the general confinement in many parts of the world may be useful.

Picks:

If you don't have picks at home, here you can see two alternative picks. On the right a paper clip of those that have a plastic cover. Open it as a triangle to play with it. On the left the cover of a BIC pen. Play with the thin part holding it from the thick.

By the way, did you know you can make your own picks from cards or some plastics that have the right width with the tool "Pick Master"?

If you don't have a capo, you can easily make one with a pencil and some elastics.

Always place capos (this and all types) near the fret (I mean the metal) but not on it.

For security, put the point of the pencil downward.

WARNING! Kids who may read this, must ask for help to their parents.

You don't have ukulele?... yes you do!! Place a capo on the 5th fret of your guitar and if you ignore the 6th and 5th strings, you'll have the tuning 4th G, 3rd C, 2nd E and 1st A that is the soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles tuning, but with one difference: the 4th string of the soprano uses to be an octave higher. So do the other two ukuleles mentioned before, although they also use to tune the 4th string lower, just like the guitar with the capo in the 5th fret.

Of course the best thing is to have an ukulele but you can actually practice like that or... tune the ululele comparing it with the guitar! I marked in red the parts of the guitar neck that are not in the ukulele and in green the 5th fret.

Another way of tuning the ukulele is 4th A, 3rd D, 2nd F # and 1st B, which you can get if you place the capo at the 7th fret of the guitar!
