Opening beBee to the world
I have been wanting to share this Producer with you for a long time. I won’t say I didn’t have time to do it, because I am one of those who criticize others who come up with excuses like they couldn’t find time do things and to contact people. But the truth is, I have been focusing on other matters, which in my work required more attention.
I am the Press Manager of the social network, beBee. My job is to plan, organize and coordinate everything related to our relationship with the media, press and events in which beBee participates in any way.
This means that when something happens on the network or related to it and it is worthy of mentioning in the media, it is my and my team’s job to act as the intermediary between beBee and the media, and as such, to strengthen the image of the company and its links with other sectors. Of course there are some forums that interest me more than others. (Economy, Business, Employment, New Technologies, Innovation, Overcoming, Entrepreneurship, Networking, etc.)
We want the whole world to get to know beBee, as we are sure we have come up with the ideal networking formula to generate an optimal personal brand that can help professionals all over the world.
Our head office at the moment is in Alcobendas (Madrid). I say at the moment, because our company is expanding quickly and there’s no doubt we will have to move into a bigger office in the future. It is in our headquarters, where the communication department - that coordinates content dissemination, press releases and audiovisual material for national and international media - can be found.
We also put a great deal of effort into harmonizing our work with our New York offices in terms of the articles we publish in the US media. We have a great team over there that works tirelessly.
We are also setting up our new office in Miranda de Ebro (Burgos); that will support our technological team with platform development functions.
We hope to be able to announce the opening of the new facilities in Silicon Valley (San Francisco) soon, since it is a project that is about to become a reality.
Besides the work I do, there is a great team of journalists and computer scientists, who help to make things a little easier in terms of editorial matters, layout, preparation of videos and design of the different contents that we create and distribute on beBee.
I must also mention the work invested in our relationship with the media. One could say that nowadays it is no longer enough to have the email and the name of the person in charge of each department in the different general- or digital newspapers, television channels and radio stations in Spain. I advocate for a rather personal treatment and, if possible, to put a name to the face in the case of every journalist.
We live in an increasingly media focused world where every aspect of our life is slowly changing. Thanks to the new technologies each of us have the possibility now to become a medium and due to the digital communication and our presence on social networks we are able to offer constant updates of what our company is up to.
My relationship with the media is determined by first named basis and personal opinions that help me to better identify the professional with their style of communication. Without doubt, it functions, believe me.
Apart from my profession, I have also been able to share many of my personal interests with colleagues with whom I work together in the media on a daily basis; a friend for example from the radio is still awaiting for a rematch of paddle. I often go out with friends -yes, friends indeed- from various online newspapers to have some beers and whenever we can we go to football or the theater. The unwritten rule in these occasions is to try not to talk about work, at least mine (it costs me a great deal).
Since we started out as beBee we have always managed to make it to the news by one thing or another. We have managed to be disruptive, novel and innovative in many ways.
The beBee Draw My Life video perfectly explains some of the most relevant things that have been happening in beBee and which we have been reporting through the media in due time.
Finally, as a proof of the above mentioned, I want to share with you some of our appearances in national and international press, television and radio in the last months. The impact that beBee had in the media has been extraordinary, and not just because I say it.
When we all paddle happily to the same direction, it is difficult for things to go wrong.
