Adoro el fútbol. Desde pequeña.

Hoy hace seis años estaba en Johannesburgo.

Hoy hace seis años viví en directo la final del Mundial de Fútbol de Sudáfrica 2010.

Siete días antes de la final me levanté por la mañana y le dije a mi pareja:

- ¡¡He soñado que España llega a la final, la gana y yo estoy allí!! Qué sueño tan gracioso… (muchas risas)

En teoría el día 11 de julio de 2010 yo tenía que estar en Costa Rica por cuestiones de trabajo, pero después de ese sueño se desencadenó toda una serie de “casualidades” y circunstancias que me llevaron hasta Johannesburgo. Podría contar muchísimos detalles sobre todo lo que sucedió en esa semana, esa mágica semana. Pero solo contaré el que más me emociona de todos.

Alicia Gorría era una compañera mía de trabajo y ella fue a Costa Rica en mi lugar para que yo pudiera ir a Johannesburgo. Esta fue la primera e imprescindible pieza de un dominó que continuó cayendo durante toda la semana. Antes de coger mi avión el viernes hacia Sudáfrica la llamé para darle las gracias de nuevo y me pidió un favor:

- Mamen, si ves a algún jugador de la selección española de fútbol pídele por favor un autógrafo para mi sobrino, tiene 18 años y con 6 tuvo cáncer en una pierna y tuvo que dejar el fútbol que es su gran pasión, ¡¡es un forofo empedernido de la Selección!!

- Por supuesto Alicia, ¡cuenta con ello! (respondí a la vez que pensaba que no tenía ni idea de cómo iba a poder cumplir su deseo y me encantaría de todo corazón hacerlo).

Ya en Johannesburgo, el domingo de la final por la mañana fui al centro de la ciudad a recoger las dos entradas que un importante miembro de la Federación Española de Fútbol me había regalado durante esa mágica semana (como dice el camarero de "Irma la Dulce", la deliciosa película de Billy Wilder, "¡Esa es otra historia!"). En el hotel donde me alojaba me había encontrado con Mirem, una amiga mía auxiliar de vuelo de Iberia, y estuvimos juntas durante un par de horas paseando por la ciudad. El ambiente era increíble. Los aficionados holandeses, la marea naranja, nos ganaban por inmensa mayoría. Yo llevaba puesta mi camiseta del equipo, la cara pintada de los colores españoles y mi bufanda de la selección española al cuello pues allí es invierno en julio. Mirem no llevaba ningún distintivo español y le presté mi bufanda.

A las dos horas nos despedimos y cuando llegué al hotel donde tenía que recoger mis entradas me di cuenta de que se me había olvidado pedirle la bufanda.

Recogí las entradas, fui a buscar a los amigos con los que había quedado para ir al partido, me compré otra bufanda con los colores de la Roja para el frío y llegamos al Soccer City Stadium para vivir una de las experiencias más alucinantes de toda mi vida.

Mientras tanto en el otro lado de Johannesburgo se estaba gestando otro milagro. A Mirem le cambiaron a última hora el vuelo en el que tenía que trabajar y regresó finalmente en el avión que trajo de madrugada a Madrid a la Selección Española, flamante ganadora del Mundial de Fútbol 2010.

Mirem conocía la historia del sobrino de Alicia porque yo se la había contado durante nuestro paseo y ya en Madrid me devolvió mi bufanda firmada por 13 jugadores de los 23 convocados en el equipo.

Y no hay palabras en el mundo entero para definir mi felicidad y agradecimiento cuando quedé con Alicia y le di la bufanda firmada por los jugadores de la Selección Española para su sobrino.

I love football. Since I was a child.

Today, six years ago I was in Johannesburg.

Today, six years ago I lived in the Soccer City Stadium the final of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.

Seven days before the final I got up in the morning and told my partner:

- I have dreamed that Spanish team reaches the final, they win and I'm there!! What a funny dream... LOL.

In theory on July 11th 2010 I had to be in Costa Rica for work, but after that dream a number of "coincidences" and circumstances erupted to let me go to Johannesburg. I could tell many details about everything that happened in that week, that magical week. But I’ll just tell the one that thrills me most of all.

Alicia Gorría was a colleague of mine at work and she went to Costa Rica in my place so I could go to Johannesburg. This one was the first and essential part of a falling domino which continued falling throughout the week. Before catching my plane on Friday to South Africa I called her to thank her again and she asked me for a favor:

- Mamen, if you see any player of the Spanish Football Team, please ask him an autograph for my nephew, he is 18 years old and when he was 6 he had cancer in his leg and had to quit football which is his passion. He is a die-hard fan of Spanish Football Team!!

- Of course Alicia, count on it! (I answered while simultaneously thought I would love to fulfill their desire but how I possibly could be able to do it).

Already in Johannesburg the day of the final, on Sunday morning, I went to downtown to pick up the two tickets that an important member of the Spanish Football Federation had given me in that magical week (as the waiter in Billy Wider's delightful "Irma la Douce" likes to say, "That's another story!"). I went downtown with Mirem, a stewardess friend of mine working for Iberia, the Spanish airline company, who was at the same hotel as I was and we were together for a couple of hours wandering around the city center. The atmosphere was simply amazing. Dutch fans, the orange tide, beat us by overwhelming majority. I was wearing my team T-shirt, painted face with Spanish colors and my Spanish team scarf around my neck, in Johannesburg it’s winter time in July. Mirem carried no Spanish distinctive so I lent her my scarf.

Two hours later we said goodbye each other and when I reached the hotel where I had to pick up my tickets I realized that I had forgotten to ask her the scarf.

I picked up the tickets, went looking for my friends with which I was going to the stadium, bought another scarf for the cold and arrived at Soccer City Stadium to live one of the most amazing experiences in my hole life.

Meanwhile on the other side of Johannesburg a miracle was creating itself. There were changes at the last minute for Iberia flights to Madrid, and Mirem finally returned working on the plane that after the match brought to Madrid to the Spanish Team, recent winner of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Mirem knew about the story of Alicia’s nephew because I told her during our walk by Johannesburg, and once in Madrid she gave me back my scarf signed by 13 players of the 23 components of the team.

And there are no possible words in the hole world to define my happiness and gratitude when I finally met Alicia to give her the Spanish Football team scarf signed by the players for his nephew.
