I really love all kind of berries, I love strawberries, raspberries, currants, blueberries , blackberries ... so let's right away start collecting them from the brambles !!. I consider them a real health treatment. They are my energy :). I feel stronger and better after eating them !
But something so rich-and often not exactly cheap- has the problem of being also very sensitive so if you do not want to have to give us a binge when we bring them home we must consider some tips for storing red fruit for longer if we do not want them to spoil quickly.
Tricks to keep the red fruit for longer
The main enemies of these extremely delicate berries are moisture and mold. If we do not take care, they will be full of mold if we don't eat them quickly.
As I said, the moisture is the enemy number one reason why, as a rule, the berries should not be washed until the moment that we are going to consume unless we use one of two methods I am going to explain right now.
One way to keep the berries longer is immersed in a solution of water and vinegar to a rate of one part vinegar to three parts water. The vinegar will remove any mold or bacteria.
Then we will place the berries in a colander and will rinse thoroughly under cold running water to ensure that we eliminate any traces of vinegar that could later affect the taste. This is very important. Don't forget it if you don't want to eat "vinegar-berries" haha.
You have to keep dry your red fruits. Remember moisture is an undesirable enemy. To do this, remove the excess water by tapping with absorbent paper. It is also very effective to place the red fruit on a bed of absorbent paper inside a centrifuge vegetables such as those used for the lettuce leaves and centrifuged for about 15 seconds until they are completely dry.
Finally, we keep it on a spacious and clean container lined with absorbent paper so that there are no fruits piled up and the partially open lid to prevent condensation from forming on the inside.
The other trick to keep the red fruit for longer, if you do not have vinegar to hand, consists ofimmersing them for 30 seconds in hot water at 55 ° C and then rinsed in cold water and dry them and store them as explained before !
