How we present ourselves has always been a crucial element to succeeding in business, and with the rise of social media, creating the right image and personal brand has never been so important. This is especially true for entrepreneurs and those trying to make a name for themselves in business.

For many, there might be some hesitation about setting up a Facebook or LinkedIn account. However, as more and more people are starting to realize, there’s more to business than what happens in the boardroom. By not actively engaging online, are you missing out on potential sales or job opportunities? Here are four simple ways you can boost your online presence:


1. Focus On Networking  

There’s a saying that perfectly sums up the importance of networking: “It’s not what you know — it’s who you know.” Throughout history, networking has always been an essential part of business — a means to ease communication and increase your chances of success.

Social media takes this to a new level. Removing the limitations of traditional networking -- such as geographical locations, time zones or travel expenses -- allows you to achieve optimal results and make the best possible use of your resources.

The problem is how to connect with someone from out of the blue without any form of context. The answer is simple: by finding common ground.

Setting Goals is one of the most important of those to me. From their I can ‘chunk’ the goals down into weekly goals, and than daily tasks to achieve those goals. One of those tasks is probably focusing on how much I need to put into improve my online presence, to help me reach my goal in the end

3. Merge Your Professional And Personal Accounts I think I need to start trying to do this too. A psychology sole practitioner business is a bit difficult to market for sales. In Australia there are strict guidelines about advertising for psychologists as well. I recently communicated with John Nemo{ Online Course Creator ("LinkedIn Riches" + "Webinars That Work") Bestselling Author | LinkedIn Trainer | Webinar Trainer Nemo Media Group University of St. Thomas Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area 500+ connections} and asked his advice about how this works for finding clients. He indicated "I would say NO, if you're just looking directly for clients in a consumer fashion, LinkedIn is not a good fit." I was surprised with his reply as I thought he might be able to explain how to adapt his style for online clients.
