"Finding Myself" // "Buscándome a mí misma" (Eng & Esp)

Once a film and television director told me that cinema theaters are therapy spaces.

I had never thought it from that point of view, but I saw it clear. In a cinema theater I've cried with laughs and because of sadness, I have jumped in my chair with the frights of the protagonist, I felt disgust for certain situations recreated and anger has invaded me when the story has taken me that course.

In short, perhaps the cinema theater is the place where I have connected with my emotions mostly and mainly.

And now it has happened again. I have been this afternoon at the Spanish premiere of "Finding Dory" with my two Princesses, but I will not talk about this sequel to not give any clue about it, I don’t wanna make any spoil.

I will talk about the first film, "Finding Nemo”, and everything I learned from it.

When "Finding Nemo” was premiered in Spain I was not yet a mother, even so I saw the film twice in a cinema theater. And years later I had the opportunity to watch the movie on DVD with my elder daughter so often we just "burned" the disc and had to buy another unit.

With the anxieties and fears of Marlin I understood my anxieties and fears. With joy and ingenuity of Dory I developed my joy and my ingenuity as well. Even the sweetness of Nemo helped me connect with my sweetness, and with my daughter's too.

I am absolutely in love with each of the scenes in this film and its perfect script, but there's a particular scene that still makes me shiver when I watch it. A lesson in life. DORY:       He says it’s time to let go!! Everything is gonna be all right!

MARLIN:   How do you know? How do you know something bad isn’t gonna happen?

DORY:       I don’t!!

I clearly carry within me a Marlin and a Dory and in the last three years my inner Marlin has asked me several times: "How do you know something bad isn’t gonna happen?”, and my inner Dory has responded: "I do not know!". LOVE DORY!!! 😍

And meanwhile just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming swimming swimming…

En una ocasión un director de cine y televisión me dijo que las salas de cine son salas de terapia.

Nunca lo había pensado desde ese punto de vista, pero lo vi claro. En una sala de cine he llorado de risa y de tristeza, he pegado brincos en la butaca con los sustos que le daban a la protagonista, he sentido asco por ciertas situaciones recreadas y la ira me ha invadido cuando la historia contada me ha llevado por esos derroteros.

En resumen, quizá la sala de cine sea el lugar donde más veces he conectado con mis emociones.

Y hoy me ha vuelto a pasar. He estado esta tarde en el estreno de “Buscando a Dory” con mis dos princesas, aunque no hablaré de esta secuela para no dar ninguna pista sobre ella.

Hablaré de la primera, “Buscando a Nemo”, y de todo lo que aprendí con ella.

Cuando se estrenó “Buscando a Nemo” todavía no era madre y aún así vi la peli en un par de ocasiones en el cine, y años después tuve la oportunidad de verla innumerables veces en DVD con mi hija mayor, tantas que acabamos “quemando” el disco y tuvimos que comprar otra unidad.

Con las angustias y miedos de Marlin comprendí mis angustias y mis miedos. Con la alegría y la ingenuidad de Dory desarrollé mi alegría y mi ingenuidad. Incluso la dulzura de Nemo me ayudó a conectar con mi dulzura y con la de mi hija.

Estoy absolutamente enamorada de cada una de las escenas de esta película y de su perfecto guión, pero hay una escena en concreto que todavía me pone los pelos de punta cuando la veo. Toda una lección de vida. He enlazado el vídeo con la escena abajo pero no lo he encontrado en español, está en inglés y traduzco aquí el diálogo más emotivo:

DORY:       ¡Dice que ahora tenemos que soltarnos! ¡Todo va a salir bien!

MARLIN:   ¿Cómo lo sabes? ¿Cómo sabes que nada malo va a pasarnos?

DORY:       ¡No lo sé!

Llevo claramente dentro de mí a Marlin y a Dory como dos voces internas, y en los últimos tres años mi Marlin me ha preguntado en varias ocasiones: “¿Cómo sabes que no va a pasar nada malo?” y mi Dory le ha respondido: “¡No lo sé!”. ¡¡ADORO A DORY!! 😍

Y mientras tanto sigo nadando, sigo nadando, sigo nadando nadando nadando…
