Blue-collar and White-collar

beBee consists of 70%+ blue-collar and white-collar registered professionals. LinkedIn has a very limited reach in blue-collar professionals and other entire segments such as freelancers, doctors, lawyers, architects, etc. This is exactly where beBee is very strong.

Professional and Personal

Relevance

beBee is based on professional networking through personal interests and hobbies because these generate more professional engagement and make better business opportunities (take golfers for example: it is the same concept but applied to all professions and areas of personal interest).

At beBee there are thousands of user-generated non-professional hives (affinity groups). At LinkedIn there aren't.

User experience

they fe

Relevance

beBee is mobile-first, free, open, easy-to-use, and affinity-based. The user experience is outstanding.

Unlike Linkedin, on beBee nobody can pay to try to sell you anything or recruit you.

Linkedin has become a giant professional directory where recruiters and people pay to have access to send you continuous job and sale proposals.

After being acquired by Microsoft, Linkedin will surely try to sell more products and services to its user base, which will make the user experience even worse.

People are not interested in knowing which of their contacts have changed job positions or who is celebrating a work anniversary. This is often the most important information Linkedin’s users can see on their wall…

LinkedIn sees its user base as a direct revenue source to obtain the largest amount of money possible. beBee sees its user base as its core asset to be kept free, happy and with an excellent affinity-based user experience.

Affinity and relevance-driven network

Relevance

At beBee the most important word is relevance. The wall, content, followers, contacts, and network itself are being built based on relevance.

On LinkedIn everything is built based on your existing network and contacts. That’s why 80% of the posts you may read on your wall and the information about your contacts (job position changes, work anniversaries, etc…)  are not at all relevant to you.

What is beBee?

beBee is the next big thing in professional social networking. Our mission is to create a professional world that is more open and connected. beBee is disrupting professional social networking by establishing connections through passions and common interests that create more professional engagement and deeper and more successful business relationships.

How does beBee work, and how does it help freelancers and would-be entrepreneurs get started? And how is it different from other social networks, like LinkedIn?

beBee is very simple to use and is free - just register as a user (offering services / requesting services, looking for jobs / posting jobs).

Based on this you will receive professional opportunities as beBee connects supply with demand.

Understandably, people want to make up for lost time by enjoying more adventures in the post-pandemic era. Now, thanks to worker-centric platforms like ours, they also have more control over the projects and clients they take on.

Employers also now understand their obligation to improve working relationships with their remote staff, which is creating happier situations for all parties involved. For freelancers and employees, the future looks brighter than ever.

When it comes to finding work and securing contracts, freelancers, digital nomads and entrepreneurial job-seekers no longer settle for platforms where they are an afterthought. BeBee is flipping the script by building environments where the power resides with them. beBee is focused on professionals not logos and companies. We say it's "user-centric", so you'll see lots of faces and very few logos.

While most job portals and career platforms focus on the company and the jobs, we focus on the candidates and giving value to people. That’s the reason why faces are very important on beBee. On beBee, a professional who offers services can gain visibility by creating their profile before adding their services, blogging to build a personal brand, and connecting directly with potential clients within their field. It encourages them to highlight exactly what they can bring to any given role while simultaneously creating business relationships where their skills and personality traits are in high demand.

In addition to supporting freelancers, offering the best user experience and detailed service to contractors means attracting the best talent, most of whom we have found are NOT on LinkedIn. In turn, companies will partner with skilled and committed workers who can produce the best results time and time again.

Even in cases where beBee users are on LinkedIn, they can add their LinkedIn profile to beBee, so they see it as complementary.

Benefits of becoming a beBee blogger - Instant reach through hives. - Instant SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for your content. - 100% Organic Reach. - Anybody can be a blogger. - Anybody is already an "influencer". - Reach your followers through email.
For those who are asking me what is beBee :),...... beBee is about professional networking through personal interests and hobbies. Take golfers, for example. It is the same concept but applied to all professions and personal interests or hobbies. Personal interests generate much more professional engagement and better business opportunities."

In less than half a year, knowledge on anything is everywhere and more accessible to everyone than ever before in human history. If you’re an early stage entrepreneur or solo professional in this day in age, you already know how to obtain tactical knowledge from the outside world, thanks bebee

Hi Tifany, the key for me is that there is a lot of people who do not use LinkedIn and there is a lot of people out of those people who do not know what LinkedIn is. Once there is comparison shopping, it is akin to promoting LinkedIn - because people will try what they become aware of. Steve Jobs did not grow because he was listening to users but because he knew users in cases of a blue ocean or green field situation did not know what they did not know. So either one leads or they follow. The world is full of followers and that road is the path to No.2. Leaders are few and far between and they fit more this scene from Good Will Hunting - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gfipuaIA68 Whether BeBee wants to be the construction site worker or the genius is the choice for the founders of BeBee to make. I know the choice I made - and I have to work out what I will do with my own winning lottery ticket.

I don't need a job as I am self employed in my own private practice. So beBee really suits me. I can learn from, liaise and network with other bees in a multitude of areas of employment - not just my own. AND I can form relationships with all bees. Maybee I can find new clients in all sectors of beBee. I hope so ! That would be beeautiful !

Over the past year, I spent a lot of time and emotional energy both trying to figure out what had gone wrong with LinkedIn and the futile attempt to communicate that to the Mighty Hamsters who ran the crazy algorithm that appears to have gone out of control in a number of key areas. Hindsight being 20 20, I have come to the conclusion that the junior management of LinkedIn is trying their best to plug all the holes in the dyke, while the senior management was busy trying to package up all the data they control in order to sell it to some cash rich company. (Like Microosoft). I was at the point where I was starting to get depressed about what a cynic this whole process was making me when John White let me know about beBee. I immediately signed up and when their publishing platform got going, started posting there, I joined a bunch of hives read and commented on a lot of interesting posts, and started noticing that many of my friends from LI were doing the same thing. To me, it's not so much about the differences in appearance or concept, which are considerable, but about the character of the site. About the intellectual freedom I have here to get back to the kind of blogging I used to do before I got pissed off with LinkedIn, after they started limiting my ability to grow a following. I feel confident that, in one hive or any number of hives, there will be people who are genuinely interested in what I'm posting. And that's really a core positive quality of beBee and, to me , what sets it apart from pretty much every other social media site that matters. But there's also something contagious about the good feeling you get here, and that has a lot to do with the management of this site, Javier has a great team who are committed to making beBee a real success. And since I have found a new home for my blogging, I have a vested interest in beBee's success and so am happy to promote it whenever I can. BeBee kinda makes LinkedIn look a bit dowdy and old school.

Dear Dean Owen if he has not seen this, go through the 95 Thesis which is also available in Spanish here http://tremendo.com/cluetrain/ or English here http://www.cluetrain.com/#manifesto It is fine talking about LinkedIn as one reference point, but then reference Twitter, Facebook, Slack, Snapchat etc - this is not about Occupy LinkedIn - it should be about creating a new movement that is about fundamental transformations in the workplace. Look at blue and white collar jobs as a conversation point is what Artificial Intelligence is doing to those jobs and AI does not distinguish which type of color of collar it is disrupting or eradicating. Cue Bobby (since he is in the year 2016 he is still alive) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7qQ6_RV4VQ

Why are we making any kind of distinction between blue collar and white collar. In the 21st Century a network is either inclusive or exclusive. If a network is exclusive either it is because it is a niche player or it is a form of elitism which is a throwback to prior centuries. http://slate.me/1NxNYY1 The best way to be inclusive is use real stories and real people, the age of the stock photo belongs to the same age when we identified and classified people by the colour of their collar. http://www.adweek.com/adfreak/vince-vaughn-and-costars-pose-idiotic-stock-photos-you-can-have-free-163239 I am a great admirer of the original 1999 Cluetrain Manifesto, I do hope at least J

For what it's worth I simply "left' Linked in as I felt a little like a spurned lover. However I did not have to mourn for long as along came beBee who soothed my wounds, embraced me, introduced me to a range of new experiences and restored my faith. I have just this morning filed for divorce and Li can have custody of the cat, ( I never liked that cat anyway)

But the blue collar advantage is significant. beBee is the People's platform. Imagine that you could find a plumber or a locksmith in your city through beBee.

Totally agree that ARPU based on (non-intrusive) advertising is the right model and it should work better than it does on Facebook where marketers are beginning to realize Facebook users don't spend much time on Facebook other than to catch up on their circle of friends and family. They do not browse Facebook like they do YouTube but this is changing as FB catches up and even surpasses YouTube in video. Video is key to engagement and I am sure beBee will allow users to embed videos in the future, but they better hurry.

Shakira has an album called "Oral Fixation" and on it is a track called "La Tortura" and that track has a great line in the middle where Shakira sings "Y andar arrojando a los cerdos miles de perlas" - who would have thought that Shakira would be quoting from Matthew 7:6 in one of her songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dsp_8Lm1eSk The fixation here is LinkedIn and until one gets beyond that the only positioning from this kind of torture is thinking like a No.2 It is cool to have a graphic showing the difference between BeBee and LinkedIn but the universe ahead in the virtual world is not LinkedIn, it is whatever your imagination makes it be. BeBee is so different it already possesses the beat and freshness of a Shakira song, that is the passion that is different, that is the AFFINITY and LinkedIn isn't that. The affinity idea is fantastic. The difference makers in the 21st Century are people like Larry Page and Serge Brin https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/jul/09/google-android-reader-why if we are too look at difference as pure visionary zeal. If we look at difference as the marketing container and the value of collecting people in that container - then Facebook are masters at that. Somewhere between that is the middle manager properties. The other axis is Apple and Amazon. LinkedIn is a Microsoft property and Microsoft isn't in the Big Four, it sits outside of that. Follow the money, follow the big mind rather than who is playing catch up. Now if 5 years from now Microsoft's acquisition of LinkedIn proves a strategic error, at that point the Beatles already have an ode to LinkedIn and then we can focus on that, this ode is called "Let it Bee" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RxufdRs5ro

Excellent post Javier C\u00e1mara Rica, you effectively spell out the stark differences between the two platforms and cogently explain why beBee is better. Nice!
