Differences between LinkedIn and beBee

Blue-collar and White-collar

beBee consists of 70%+ blue-collar and white-collar registered professionals. LinkedIn has a very limited reach in blue-collar professionals and other entire segments such as freelancers, doctors, lawyers, architects, etc. This is exactly where beBee is very strong.
Professional and Personal

beBee is based on professional networking through personal interests and hobbies because these generate more professional engagement and make better business opportunities (take golfers for example: it is the same concept but applied to all professions and areas of personal interest).
At beBee there are thousands of user-generated non-professional hives (affinity groups). At LinkedIn there aren't.
User experience

Unlike Linkedin, on beBee nobody can pay to try to sell you anything or recruit you.
Linkedin has become a giant professional directory where recruiters and people pay to have access to send you continuous job and sale proposals.
After being acquired by Microsoft, Linkedin will surely try to sell more products and services to its user base, which will make the user experience even worse.
People are not interested in knowing which of their contacts have changed job positions or who is celebrating a work anniversary. This is often the most important information Linkedin’s users can see on their wall…
LinkedIn sees its user base as a direct revenue source to obtain the largest amount of money possible. beBee sees its user base as its core asset to be kept free, happy and with an excellent affinity-based user experience.
Affinity and relevance-driven network

On LinkedIn everything is built based on your existing network and contacts. That’s why 80% of the posts you may read on your wall and the information about your contacts (job position changes, work anniversaries, etc…) are not at all relevant to you.

How does beBee work, and how does it help freelancers and would-be entrepreneurs get started? And how is it different from other social networks, like LinkedIn?
beBee is very simple to use and is free - just register as a user (offering services / requesting services, looking for jobs / posting jobs).
Based on this you will receive professional opportunities as beBee connects supply with demand.
Understandably, people want to make up for lost time by enjoying more adventures in the post-pandemic era. Now, thanks to worker-centric platforms like ours, they also have more control over the projects and clients they take on.
Employers also now understand their obligation to improve working relationships with their remote staff, which is creating happier situations for all parties involved. For freelancers and employees, the future looks brighter than ever.
When it comes to finding work and securing contracts, freelancers, digital nomads and entrepreneurial job-seekers no longer settle for platforms where they are an afterthought. BeBee is flipping the script by building environments where the power resides with them. beBee is focused on professionals not logos and companies. We say it's "user-centric", so you'll see lots of faces and very few logos.
While most job portals and career platforms focus on the company and the jobs, we focus on the candidates and giving value to people. That’s the reason why faces are very important on beBee. On beBee, a professional who offers services can gain visibility by creating their profile before adding their services, blogging to build a personal brand, and connecting directly with potential clients within their field. It encourages them to highlight exactly what they can bring to any given role while simultaneously creating business relationships where their skills and personality traits are in high demand.
In addition to supporting freelancers, offering the best user experience and detailed service to contractors means attracting the best talent, most of whom we have found are NOT on LinkedIn. In turn, companies will partner with skilled and committed workers who can produce the best results time and time again.
Even in cases where beBee users are on LinkedIn, they can add their LinkedIn profile to beBee, so they see it as complementary.

Hi Tifany, the key for me is that there is a lot of people who do not use LinkedIn and there is a lot of people out of those people who do not know what LinkedIn is. Once there is comparison shopping, it is akin to promoting LinkedIn - because people will try what they become aware of. Steve Jobs did not grow because he was listening to users but because he knew users in cases of a blue ocean or green field situation did not know what they did not know. So either one leads or they follow. The world is full of followers and that road is the path to No.2. Leaders are few and far between and they fit more this scene from Good Will Hunting - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gfipuaIA68 Whether BeBee wants to be the construction site worker or the genius is the choice for the founders of BeBee to make. I know the choice I made - and I have to work out what I will do with my own winning lottery ticket.

Dear Dean Owen if he has not seen this, go through the 95 Thesis which is also available in Spanish here http://tremendo.com/cluetrain/ or English here http://www.cluetrain.com/#manifesto It is fine talking about LinkedIn as one reference point, but then reference Twitter, Facebook, Slack, Snapchat etc - this is not about Occupy LinkedIn - it should be about creating a new movement that is about fundamental transformations in the workplace. Look at blue and white collar jobs as a conversation point is what Artificial Intelligence is doing to those jobs and AI does not distinguish which type of color of collar it is disrupting or eradicating. Cue Bobby (since he is in the year 2016 he is still alive) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7qQ6_RV4VQ

Why are we making any kind of distinction between blue collar and white collar. In the 21st Century a network is either inclusive or exclusive. If a network is exclusive either it is because it is a niche player or it is a form of elitism which is a throwback to prior centuries. http://slate.me/1NxNYY1 The best way to be inclusive is use real stories and real people, the age of the stock photo belongs to the same age when we identified and classified people by the colour of their collar. http://www.adweek.com/adfreak/vince-vaughn-and-costars-pose-idiotic-stock-photos-you-can-have-free-163239 I am a great admirer of the original 1999 Cluetrain Manifesto, I do hope at least J
