Based at the Rapita Hardware Center of Excellence at Barcelona (Spain), reporting to the Rapita Group CTO, this is exciting opportunity to be part of the future of critical multicore systems.


In this senior position, you will be leading the research and development of innovative hardware and software technologies for timing analysis and optimization of advanced Multi-Processor Systems on Chip (MPSoC) for multicore real-time embedded platforms in the global aerospace and automotive industries.


What you will do:


  • Lead a growing team of talented hardware engineers working on:
  • Multicore processor performance analysis and configuration to provide sustained performance and real-time predictability.
  • Identifying performance bottlenecks by analysis of technical reference material and experimentation.
  • Devising hardwareconfiguration, software countermeasures and mitigations to reduce timing variability and unpredictability.
  • Design, development, and testing of software tools for multicore performance analysis.
  • Work alongside CTO to create product roadmap and product innovations.
  • Work with sales and marketing teams on technical proposals and promotion of our products and services.
  • Work closely with other Rapita companies in the UK and USA and global endcustomers.
  • Use initiative to research and learn independently, question assumptions and challenge results.
  • Train and mentor engineers in hardware, software, system troubleshooting and test processes.
  • Support cuttingedge international research projects with worldleading industries in the avionics and automotive domains, throughout the product life cycle from requirements through certification.

Technologies you will work with:


  • Cuttingedge Multi-Processor Systems on Chip (e.g. QorIQ, UltraScale, Layerscape, Tiger Lake, Jacinto, TriCore).
  • ARM, RISC-V, PowerPC architectures.
  • Lowlevel targetspecific assembly programming.
  • Highlevel programming languages, including C, Python, other programming/scripting and testing languages.
  • Realtime operating systems/hypervisors such as PikeOS, Integrity, VxWorks, LynxSecure, and Deos.
  • Embedded system tools (e.g. debuggers, Lauterbach, CodeWarrior,).
  • Windows and Linux.

What would make you great at this role:

  • A master's or doctoral degree in computer architecture, real-time systems, electronics or a related field.
  • Experience leading teams and/or complex projects including providing technical proposals and effort estimates.
  • Knowledge of computer architectures and hardware components, especially multicore platforms
  • Experience in research projects.
  • Proficiency in software development, with a particular emphasis on embedded systems and lowlevel programming.
  • A proactive and collaborative attitude, demonstrating eagerness to learn, explore new ideas, and contribute as a valuable member of a fastpaced, dedicated team.
  • Experience with safetycritical embedded systems.

You'll also benefit if you have:

  • Understanding and experience in real-time or embedded software development.
  • Experience with realtime operating systems such as Integrity, VxWorks, Deos, and/or hypervisors.
  • Familiarity with avionics standards like DO178C and related knowledge.
  • Skills in assembly, C, C++.
  • Linux or other Unixlike OS experience.
  • Effective multitasking abilities, capable of managing multiple active projects simultaneously.
