At Berry HH&S EMEIA, we are currently seeking a Category Manager to join the Procurement team


The Category Manager is responsible for category management of Berry Global Freight & Masterbatch as well as the volume coordination and allocation optimization of our resin purchases.

This key position is responsible for developing, optimizing and implementing category strategies for the region, and leading strategic savings initiatives that align with regional and corporate objectives.

In addition, this individual will act as a sourcing expert and drive cross-functional initiatives for make or buy decisions in the region.

The position will focus on Freight (30M EUR) & Masterbatch (10M EUR). The manager will develop, gain alignment and implement strategy for all relevant sub categories. This will be done in close cooperation with Procurement Lead of the HH&S EMEIA region. The categories to manage can be adjusted depending on the need of the region.


Verantwortlichkeiten:

  • Resin (220M EUR): Volume coordination and allocation optimization among our HHS EMEIA plants as well as support to prepare strategic supplier negotiations. The actual strategy and negotiation for resin is done by our cooperate procurement team
  • Provide strategic expertise and impact assessment for assigned categories to all internal stakeholders. Be the market expert for the assigned categories, optimize existing category strategies and contracts
  • Proactive leadership and support to regional internal customers, while ensuring continuity of supply
  • Bring innovation and TCO (Total cost of ownership) reduction by understanding new products trend and promoting their introduction into Berry product portfolio
  • Drive supplier innovation
  • Lead contract negotiations for each category, while utilizing a team based approach involving key internal stakeholders. Total cost of ownership, market forecasts, global volume, supplier technical support, as well as regional and plant distinctions should all be considered in the negotiations.
  • Drive corporate value by lowering total cost of ownership and reducing working capital of strategic materials
  • Support material budget, forecasting, and pricing
  • Establish strong crossfunctional relationships with regional general manager, product development, plant leaders, product Management Team, commercial teams, and regional functional leaders.
  • Drive effective implementation of supplier strategies within the region. Ensure internal alignment is realized from the supplier selection process, through qualification, and all contractual parameters are achieved.

Qualifikationen:


Minimum (2) years experience in direct or freight category management, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management for a process based organization.


  • Crossfunctional leadership experience or additional expertise in functional areas outside of procurement.
  • Experience with Freight sourcing is preferred
  • Strong leadership, relationship building, problem solving, planning, and communication skills required.
  • Selfstarter with demonstrated ability to drive initiatives to successful completion in a matrixed organization.
  • The ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees is crucial to success in this role.
  • Must have a high level of business acumen with understanding of P&L impacts
  • Working knowledge of lean business principles and process excellence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
