    Baxter Planning is headquartered in Austin, Texas with offices in Spain and India. Though this role will mostly be remote, the position will be located out of our rapidly growing Barcelona office. Position Overview
    As an Application/Site Reliability Engineer at Baxter Planning, you will be part of a collaborative, globally distributed Production Engineering team that operates at the intersection between software development, IT operations (DevOps), and technical support in service of maintaining uninterrupted operation across our suite of applications. Responsibilities of this role include monitoring, automating, and improving the reliability, performance, and availability of applications in addition to troubleshooting support escalation incidents. Activities can range from production code changes to supporting customer implementation configuration needs to alerting and monitoring adjustments. A critical responsibility for this role is to monitor and ensure receipt and processing of data from customer systems to Baxter Planning's products. Application/System Reliability Engineers are responsible for keeping all Baxter Planning applications and production services running smoothly. An ideal candidate will possess several skill sets including proficiency with data technologies, ETL, and SQL; familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, and/or Bash; working with Linux Systems and basic administration; passion for data analytics; and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities
    • Setup and evaluate monitors that alert on symptoms rather than outages for critical applications and services to minimize downtime and ensure their availability
    • Gather and analyze metrics from systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
    • Participate in system design consulting and platform management
    • Troubleshoot complex application and environment issues and provide corrective measures
    • Respond to incidents and assist with root cause analysis (RCA) investigations
    • Assist with the configuration and operational deployment of Baxter Planning applications
    • Development of solutions to connect customer systems and extract and transform data
    • Support and document production workflow processes
    ** This position is expected to work rotating weekend days (Saturday and Sunday) with a schedule of either 5 days x 8 hours or 4 days x 10 hours. Qualifications
    • 5+ years of experience working in a system administration, site reliability, technical support, or data integration role
    • Know your way around Linux and the Unix Shell
    • Familiarity with configuration management systems like Chef and Ansible
    • Experience optimizing queries for SQL and/or NoSQL databases
    • Experience working in version control systems such as Git and/or SVN
    • Experience building monitors and alerts within AWS CloudWatch or other observability solutions such as New Relic
    • Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
    • Detail oriented and reliable
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Fluency in English
