Job Description Summary:

Inside the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team, we industrialize the factories needed to assembly the Offshore Wind Turbine products, and we are developing and validating the assembly tooling needed.


Inside this role the Employee will support Structural Engineers and he will be responsible on performing structural assessments of different critical tooling and assembly operations.

A mechanical background is needed for this position and knowledge of Ansys Workbench software is required.

Essential responsibilities

  • Perform structural assessment of different critical tooling and assembly operations

This includes:

  • Identify critical load cases.
  • Perform sensibility analysis (friction, COG variation, tooling movements )
  • Validation using Ansys Workbench and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Validate Wind Turbine components interfaces.
  • Validate critical tooling to be used on the future assembly process.
  • Propose tooling design improvements to ensure scalability in future Wind Turbine designs.
  • Create reports with status of tooling summarizing:
  • Safety factors of main structures
  • Bolts calculation
  • Welding calculation
  • Commercial components validation

Qualification/requirements

  • Possibility to sign a University Agreement
  • Studies: Bachelor/Master in Industrial Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. (or equivalent knowledge or experience)

Desired Characteristics

  • Work style: Hybrid work possible with minimum 2 days per week with presence at GE Roc Boronat Barcelona office.
  • Minimum work time/Week: 30hour/week is the minimum required.
  • Minimum internship duration: 6 months
  • Software: Ansys Workbench experience is required
  • Language:
  • Fluent English
  • Spanish is a plus
