Associate Director, Analytics & Insights / Commercial Excellence

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Gilead team in Commercial Operations to support one of the strategic therapeutical area in the company.

This role will report to the Director of Analytics & Insights and is based in our office in Madrid, Spain.

Specific Job Responsibilities - Overall :

• Provides thought leadership to the organization through the proper application of analytical techniques in the following areas :
• Market Intelligence
• Business Analytics
• Commercial Operations Integration
• In-Market Forecasting
• Executional Excellence
• Sales Force Effectiveness
• Supports the Business Unit Director in developing business frameworks and related analytical processes based on the needs of the Company's senior management, Commercial, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Finance and Manufacturing functions.
• Presents recommendations and findings to various stakeholders within the Commercial organization.
• Applies strategic thinking and communicates highly complex analytical processes in a clear and concise manner.
• Independently leads projects and coordinates input from cross-functional teams of Commercial, Marketing, Finance and external vendors.
• Audits written SOPs and documentation of all newly established processes.
• Establishes and maintains positive business relationships in key segments of the Commercial organization, consistently demonstrating a thorough understanding of internal customers' business needs, their processes, and immediate priorities.
• Interacts with internal customers ranging from executives to Commercial management to sales teams.
• Directs the planning and implementation of new system enhancements or developments.
• Makes recommendations to improvements and ensures system changes meet the business initiatives of Commercial Operations.
• Represents the Commercial user viewpoint when collaborating with IT to develop process improvements.

Specific Job Responsibilities Business Analytics

• Defines and implement the adequate Market Intelligence strategy : Identify adequate sources of information, ad hoc studies and business needs.
• Interacts with vendors and multinational teams to optimise market intelligence outcomes
• Designs dashboard reports and oversees analytics for senior management reporting in assigned franchises.

Specific Job Responsibilities Commercial Excellence

• Track business indicators and identify action plans when appropriate.
• Create KPIs and dashboards leading to strategic decision making processes
• Manages the implementation of sales force realignments for assigned franchises.

Specific Job Responsibilities Forecasting

• Projects demand for Gilead's and competitors' products within a particular therapeutic area over the next two to three years.
• Advises senior-level internal customers (e.g. Marketing, Manufacturing, Finance, Product Management) on forecasting assumptions, inputs and outputs.

Specific Job Responsibilities Incentive Compensation

• Manages the design and administration of sales incentive plans to align corporate objectives, commercial strategies, and sales force efforts.
• Accountable for the development and implementation of sales force reporting tools and ensures accurate and timely performance measurement on relevant parameters.
• Defines productivity indicators for use in measuring performance and ensures the implementation of sales force action plans contribute to increased effectiveness.

Knowledge & Skills :

üAdvanced understanding of statistical and analytical techniques is required.

üMust be able to construct mathematical models that effectively simplify user interaction and maintain the integrity of the underlying data and analytical structures and leverage previous investments in systems, data structures, and human resources.

üAbility to assume full responsibility for accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of deliverables completed through own efforts or those of subordinate employees is required.

üMust be able to effectively communicate technical and qualitative information to executives in all functional areas through interpersonal, verbal, and written channels.

üMust have successful track record of managing projects and multi-tasking in a deadline intensive environment.

üMust be able to recognize and interpret business issues / opportunities and recommend solutions through analysis.

üExperience in a pharmaceutical environment is required, as is a solid understanding of principles relating to the area of specialization.

üIn-depth knowledge of relevant software systems (e.g., MS Excel, Access, SAS, SQL, Cognos, MS Word & PowerPoint, etc.) is required.

üIn-depth knowledge of global Sales and Marketing organizations and pharmaceutical data sources is required.
