Executive Network Group have been retained by a leading Insurance business who are looking to appoint a Business Development Director.

This role can be based anywhere in Europe.


The purpose of the role is to rive and develop UK relationships with brokers, MGAs, utilities, corporate clients, TPAs, and insurers, in order to increase revenue for the group.

This will entail identifying targets for growth, developing the sales proposition, preparing and delivering formal or informal sales presentations, rating and organising priorities, creating opportunities for growth, monitor and measure activity and trends.

Predominantly linked to entities in the London market plus responsibility for national accounts as allocated.

  • To build on existing market profile and to play a leading role in the origination of new business to the firm
  • Client facing role with the requirement to identify, develop and manage new and existing accounts including brokers, insurers, MGAs and corporate clients.
  • Creating and working to a development plan, identifying and locating new potential clients by pursuing leads to bring work to the group
  • Keep prospective client database and materials up to date and monitored against budgeted revenue targets and activity targets
  • Understanding the Client/target business, strategy and key issues and facilitating this into a sales proposition and operational delivery.
  • Develop new business by cross selling to existing clients, building upon strong relationships and continuously identifying new opportunities.
  • Proactively develop the relationship with the client, particularly the communication strategy, through reports, management information, regular meetings, workshops, interaction by the wider group
  • Establish close working relationships with Operational Business Heads and colleagues throughout the business.
  • Use existing contacts and network to obtain introductions to new business
  • Liaise with the wider Sales and Marketing team in responding to new business opportunities and preparing tender documentation.
  • Identify new trends, ideas, claim solutions in the market and work with the businesses to develop and implement.
  • Create appropriate presentations and seminar material and deliver regularly to the market
  • Forge a close relationship with appropriate professional bodies in order to facilitate growth
  • Keeping up to date with industry knowledge and market developments
  • A good understanding of the general insurance and claims management market with proven account/relationship management experience.
  • General understanding of claims management services
  • Progression towards ACII/CILA
  • A track record of successfully moving relationships forward and sourcing new business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to influence both internally and externally
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects to deliver results within agreed timescales.
  • Resilient and analytical with good presentation skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
