About you and this role


We are looking for you, an ambitious master's student, to support our Digital Operations Center by doing an internship project in Autonomous Robots for our location in Barcelona, Spain.

The department that will welcome you is a critical component in enabling Dow's Digital Strategy.

The center you will be aligned to, includes a blend of resources from Operations, Manufacturing & Engineering, IT and collaborates closely with other key functions across Dow.

The extended team includes personnel with expertise in analytics, process automation, sensors, robotics, and mobility to digitalize Dow's operations.

This multidisciplinary team coordinates with the other Digital Operations Centers across the world to facilitate rapid prototyping of new capabilities to enhance the competitive position of Dow's manufacturing and site facilities.

Project description


The intern will work at the intersection of chemical operations and automation, primarily responsible for Investigate and draft a proposal for the introduction of an autonomous robots into the production environment.


Main aspects of the role will be:

  • Researching and defining the use cases including the functional requirements associated with it.
  • Evaluating which integration might be need into existing systems and evaluating which alarming and collaboration requirements for the end user might be needed.
  • Defining EH&S, process safety and operational requirements and limits for this kind system in accordance with internal and external standards and requirements.

Responsibilities:


  • Support of implementation of an autonomous quadruped into production environment.
  • Identify opportunities and best practices that can be leveraged to future implementations.
  • Translate the requirements of manufacturing into functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with other teams and expert networks.
  • Gain understanding of how these technologies translate to business value in manufacturing or maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the local project team.

Qualifications:


  • You are currently studying for a master's degree or equivalent in preferably in Robotics or Cybernetics Engineering. Chemical, Computing, Automation, Mechanical or Electronic Engineering degrees, can also be considered. You have
  • You have a good working knowledge of English. Spanish would be a plus.
  • You have an active interest in digitalization technologies and the future of how we will work in industry utilizing these.
  • You are available to start between March and April for a duration of 6 months (exact period will be discussed).
